The Software Engineering role is central to the business mission of CardConnect. The developer will architect, develop, test and support the software components that implement the features and functions that differentiate CardConnect from other payment processors. This role requires initial and continued education on all Payment Card Industry features, functionality, specifications and standards. A mindset of heightened security is instrumental in the success of this role and CardConnect's technology solution.


  • Establish and maintain a sense of product ownership around the:

o Technology stack

o DevOps/CICD/Production Support/Monitoring

o Architecture

o Documentation

o Testing

o Customer outcomes and enterprise value

  • Develop software in the Java language, maintain and extend associated automated test cases working closely with Quality Assurance

  • Understand the order to cash payment card business process supported by CardConnect products

  • Maintain familiarity with the security requirements imposed by the PCI-DSS standard focused on the OWASP Top Ten

  • Provide support to Project Managers for customer development, installations, updates, and problem resolution

  • Manage payment card clearinghouse certifications for assigned projects

  • Maintain a high level of organization, attention to detail

  • Preform risk/cost/resource analysis on new development requirements

  • Participate in internal development and testing of new product features and bug fixes and overall development processes


  • Develop and test computer software using the Java Language

  • Understand the web's most critical web application security vulnerabilities

  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems required

  • Proficiency with Internet Networking required

  • Data layer design/query optimization knowledge, MySQL/JPA

  • A willingness to learn installation requirements and user functionality of CardConnect Products

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Software design and development (nodeJS based) * Develop RESTful APIs for enterprise applications * Perform COTS integration with Oracle's IdAM products * Package and script installs * Complete performance analysis/tuning and regression testing * Support Lab and operational installations and provide troubleshooting * Develop Unit Test Plans and supporting the formal test of requirements, execute informal software tests * Identify and troubleshoot issues found during the software development/integration process * Perform functional tests using both front-end and command line interfaces * Create, execute, and maintain technical documentation * Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on test progress during daily scrum meetings * Design, create, modify and remove database objects (tables, views, indexes, keys, stored procedures, functions, DB links, etc.) to support development projects. * Support program operational needs as required EDUCATION: * Requires BS degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2+ years of prior relevant experience OR High School Diploma with an additional 6 years of relevant experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * MUST BE A US CITIZEN due to that nature of the work * Experience with Node JS, APIs, Sails, and Mocha Tests * Experience creating and using RESTful APIs for enterprise applications * Ability to generate, follow, and update technical procedures and evaluate results * Ability to work successfully in a team, independently, and take initiative on tasks * Demonstrated knowledge of software development concepts * Experience testing software and troubleshooting root causes * Experience solving a broad range of technological challenges in a dynamic environment * Experience with or general knowledge of COTS integration * Ability to communicate in both oral and written formats * Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Deep understanding of RESTful architectures required * Knowledge of test tools such as SoapUI, LoadRunner, Selenium, TOAD, pgAdmin * Knowledge of authentication standards using OAuth, SAML, PKI * System administration skills in support of RHEL, SE Linux, Solaris, Windows, Apache, IIS * Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Scrum, and Agile processes * Experience with or general knowledge of IdAM domains * Knowledge of Oracle Identity and Access Management suite, including OAM, OID, OVD, OUD, OIM, OIF, and OES * Knowledge of software development with the Java/J2EE development, Node, Sails * Prior use with the Atlassian suite tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence), Git, Jenkins, and Chef * Knowledge of WebLogic and LDAPs * Practical application with Unix/Linux CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: * No Clearance required.
