We are seeking a talented and motivated Sr. Software Engineer, Backend to join our Tinder Service Platform (TSP) team. This TSP team is a part of the Central Platform team at Match Group. Our mission is to provide central services to all brands under the Match Group umbrella as a unique internal provider of Software as a Service (SaaS).
As a team member, you will be responsible for building and operating multiple central services that are used by and have direct impact on success for brands in the Match Group portfolio. As a part of the Tinder Service Platform team, you will have the opportunity to learn about the greater technical ecosystem at Match Group and Tinder, and to play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and efficient central services for the whole of Match Group as we work in partnership with allied Tinder teams, as well as maintaining working relationships with our various other client/partner technical organizations across Match Group.

In this role you will:
Work closely with the Tinder engineering team and MG engineers to build and operate critical central services that have an important influence on all brands within the Match Group portfolio
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, API documentation, and operational guides
Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to the performance, reliability, scalability, and stability of the central services while providing timely resolutions, incorporating relevant automation as much as possible
Apply software and systems architectural principles to further TSP initiatives, including but not limited to the TSP API
Proactively give and receive mentorship and ensure the delivery of assigned tasks; participate in code reviews frequently
We could be a Match if you have:
5+ years experience as a software engineer with a focus on backend
Knowledge of Java (or Kotlin)
Experience with various datastores; knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL concepts
Ability to dive into low-level details and create/implement technical designs
Solid understanding of basic computer science principles and fundamental programming
Excellent problem-solving skills
An advocate for code quality and best engineering practices
Strong communication skills and ability to engage with other engineers or PMs on technical, organizational, and process issues
Strong passion for software development and eagerness to learn and grow as a software engineer
Experience in distributed / cloud systems and API design; also familiarity with data pipelines/event processing infrastructures and technologies
Experience with requirements analysis and creating technical designs from product requirements
$146,500 - $176,000 a year
