Overview Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Senior Software Developer to envision product development and manage projects through completion.

The incumbent will analyze, design, and develop software enhancement and new modules. The Senior Software Developer will manage development project from initial design through testing while providing strategic management direction. Additionally, this role will independently develop innovative approaches to existing and novel research and independently design, develop, and implement software solutions problems.

This is the highest of a three level Software series. This position will be in support of the Surgical Critical Care Initiative (SC2i). The Surgical Critical Care Initiative (SC2i), funded by the Department of Defense was established in 2013. SC2i is a Uniformed Services University center that leverages legacy information from service members, and critically ill civilian and military patients to develop biomarker-driven clinical decision support tools (CDSTs) with the goal of improving patient clinical outcomes and reducing costs across the injury/disease cycle.

Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities Designs, develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software across multiple development areas. Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies. Performs IT infrastructure planning and implementation.

Provides limited IT user support. Leads project requirements analysis and formulation of software solutions in collaboration with scientists on large-scale database management systems. Plans projects and ensures good documentation standards independently.

Change Management: Prepares test plans, validation testing, and independently performs testing and quality control to ensure high quality solutions move to production. Assesses and applies solutions spanning across multiple development areas.

Performs research and data analysis with limited guidance or supervision for new functionality under development (product enhancements). Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have domain specific knowledge and understand the technical aspects of research projects. Excellent written and oral presentation skills are a must.

Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, Python, SQL, APIs and microservices applications. Experience with or willingness to learn: GCP, R and specific statistical algorithms for validation, ISO/IEC compliance, SSDLC, risk management and process mapping.

Willingness to obtain COMPTIA security+ or equivalent certification. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment This position will take place primarily in an office setting. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.

Certifications COMPTIA security+ or equivalent certification preferred. Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
