Experience with these languages Java 8, Apache Camel XML DSL and C++ family
Experience with Javascript, JRuby, JSP, CSS, and web development frameworks (e.g., JQuery, HTML/CSS, JQuery, Developr Theme, Spring MVC & Security, Glassfish)

What We Do Our telemetry systems staff design, develop, and qualify weapon system instrumentation (or telemetry systems) for use in Joint Test Assembly (JTA) surveillance flight tests, system-level ground tests, and researched-based experimental flight tests for all U.S. nuclear deterrent systems. Telemetry systems interface with the weapon systems to collect and transmit performance data, state of health data, and custom sensor data in combined environment tests. As a cornerstone of the Stockpile Evaluation Program, our JTA efforts allow critical assessment of weapon systems hardware and processes and Department of Defense (DoD) platforms. What We Need We are looking to hire a Mid-Career Electronical Engineer to design, develop and test embedded systems in a telemetry data acquisition system. The telemetry product consists of several printed wiring assemblies that each heavily rely on FPGAs for functionality. This position would be the primary owner of all the embedded firmware systems on the integrated telemetry processor (ITP) boards for a telemetry product and ensure functionality with the hardware and signal interfaces through simulation and test. This position would be part of a product realization team and have access to telemetry subject matter experts to mature and uphold a core Telemetry firmware architecture based on modular firmware. What You'll Do Objective 1: Learn Sandia Processes 30-day goal - Complete all required corporate training. Gain access to relevant information, software and tools based on team processes. 60-day goal - Read and be familiar with Telemetry Hardware and Firmware Development Guidelines and corporate Realize Product Procedures. Objective 2: Develop the Telemetry Firmware Product 60-day goal - Review and understand electrical requirements, system architecture, firmware, and schematics of the existing system. 4-month goal - Lead a technical review of assigned product in front of technical experts. 1st Year goal - Test and Integrate your products into the telemetry system and support the team through the Baseline Design Review. Show competency with Sandia's suite of EE design simulation tools. On any given day, you may: * Design high-level digital architectures to meet top-level Telemetry system requirements. * Develop firmware requirements that satisfy and map to top-level Telemetry system requirements. * Design embedded firmware (currently in VHDL) to implement high-level digital architecture. Typical functions include collect/organize data from various ICs/sensors via any manner of serial/parallel communication protocols (e.g. SPI, I2C, USB, 8b10b) and disseminate that data in a multitude of ways (e.g. serial outputs such as USB, UART, NRZL, biphase). * Develop verification strategies to demonstrate firmware designs meet requirements. * Create firmware simulations and test plans. * Perform hands-on testing and debugging of circuitry. * Develop a system-level understanding of the collected data and support for anomaly resolution. * Create documentation of a given design. * Provide technical presentations to peers and managers. Qualifications We Require * Master's Degree in a relevant discipline and one year experience or Bachelor's Degree is a relevant discipline and five years experience * Ability to travel for business up to 25% time. * Ability to obtain a DOE Top Secret 'Q' Security Clearance. Telemetry systems has responsibility for all aspects of telemetry development, including conceptual design, prototype development and testing, and transitioning production work to DOE production agencies. Telemetry systems integrate precision sensor electronics and signal conditioning with RF communication systems to support flight testing of Joint Test Assemblies. Work is performed by teams of electrical engineers and mechanical engineers, in partnership with quality engineering, reliability engineering, and project management. Current development mission assignments include the W88 ALT370 JTA8 project, the W78 JTA6R project, and the W76 JTA3 project. Stockpile support oversees the quality, reliability, and availability of all qualified telemetry systems that are being used in the on-going surveillance mission. Position Information This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
