Senior Skilled Maintenance Technician

In this position, you will lead, assign, review, and participate in the work of the staff responsible for providing assigned skilled construction, maintenance, and repair services and activities. You will also perform related general maintenance duties.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

  • Perform, plan, and prioritize the work of staff responsible for providing assigned skilled maintenance services and activities, including the design, construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of buildings, structures, devices, and systems

  • Ensure work quality and adherence to City policies and approved work plans and designs; serve as technical advisor; and inspect completed work

  • Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned services

  • Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as needed

  • Identify and review resource needs with management and supervisory staff

  • Perform technical and complex tasks for the division

  • Perform skilled carpentry, finished carpentry, electrical, electronic, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, irrigation, and welding work

  • Maintain records and prepare reports

  • Interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings

  • Provide training to assigned staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies

  • Function as backup to the Airfield electrician

  • Operate snow removal equipment

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation

  • Operational characteristics, services, and activities of assigned skilled maintenance program

  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Modern and complex techniques and practices utilized in assigned area

  • Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to:

  • Schedule and coordinate the activities and services of assigned staff

  • Independently perform advanced and complex work

  • Safely operate a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Successful candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or GED with additional specialized training appropriate to assigned field

  • Five years of full-time professional skilled maintenance and/or technical experience related to area of assignment

  • Possess, or obtain within six months of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Class B Colorado Commercial Driver's License, with air brake endorsement, not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Airport snow removal experience

  • Experience with Siemens BAS software and baggage handling system

  • Experience using VEOCI (Virtual Emergency Operations Center) or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

  • Experience installing and maintaining airfield lighting and signage

  • Two years of lead/foreman/supervisory experience

  • Certified as a Mechanic IV

Additional Information

You will be required to report for snow removal duty which includes shift work, schedule changes, and emergency callout.

The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the TSA.

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Audio-visual acuity and perceptions is also required.
