The Senior Site Reliability Engineer is a key member of a small team focused on ensuring that our critical services are secure, reliable, cost-effective, performant, and operationally excellent. This role requires a generalist who can contribute with needs in development, system operations, resiliency testing, security hardening, and performance engineering. The Site Reliability Engineer is comfortable taking on new engineering challenges, defining potential solutions, and implementing designs in a team environment. This position plays an important role in our organization's evolution towards contemporary application and infrastructure management practices and will be expected to both guide and support the team's growth and learning.

Primary expectations include:

  • Taking on the most challenging problems facing the team's products

  • Solving "higher-order" problems facing the team by developing new tools or processes

  • Being strong advocates for best practices by modeling and teaching them to junior members

  • Develop relationships with the product development teams by building trust

  • Diagnose systems problems shoulder to shoulder with development teams

  • Mentoring the junior team members on their journey as an SRE

  • Being able to speak in-depth about the majority (if not all) of the products handled by the team

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years prior relevant infrastructure development and software support experience required.

  • Prior experience in architecting cloud-based solutions on AWS.

  • Prior experience in managing cloud infrastructure in AWS.

  • Experience with Linux operating systems

  • Proficiency in Ruby, Python or Bash desired.

  • Experience with Terraform

Nice to have:

  • Experience with pipeline process and it's implementation (Jenkins and groovy)

  • A strong understanding of the SDLC and the Agile software development methodology required.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts desired and infrastructure as a service offerings. (AWS)

  • A strong understanding of diverse infrastructure platforms and infrastructure concepts required.

  • Versatility as demonstrated with troubleshooting diverse sets of hosting technologies (web server platforms, Java application platforms, operating systems, network components, virtualization technologies, database platforms) strongly desired.

  • Understanding of general networking concepts (CDN, WAF, DNS, PKI etc.) and protocols desired.

  • Understanding of security policies concept (implementation and maintenance) desired.

  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery concept desired.

  • Experience in a production environment supporting mission-critical applications desired.

  • Knowledge of standard production practices including change management desired.

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $120,000.00-$135,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.

We believe that wherever learning flourishes so do people. The Cloud Infrastructure Services team is seeking candidates for a Site Reliability Engineer. SRE's play an integral role ensuring that our customers have a highly available and reliable platform. The role supports the deployment and customization of our ERP Platform. As a Site Reliability engineer, you will scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity. As an SRE, you will: * Design scalable, robust, secure systems using cloud architecture * Build automation using industry tools (like Jenkins, Ansible, etc.) to deploy hundreds of different services * Ensure a high degree of availability across all of our service offerings. * Identify bottlenecks and problems throughout the infrastructure. * Drive projects/technical initiatives and architectural/technical service improvements . * Build automation to scale infrastructure based on forecasted demand. * Develop custom tools as necessary. * Document system design and procedures. * Maintain applications and services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health. * Practice sustainable incident response and postmortems. * Partner and lead internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs * Participate in an on-call rotation. * Provide architectural recommendations * Ensure SLA obligations are met. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * 4 years' hands on experience managing, maintaining, and automating infrastructure in AWS. * 4 years' hands on experience managing and maintaining Linux systems. * BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving systems engineering (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making. * Hands on Experience with Oracle Database and Middleware Infrastructure. * Good understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as: HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, the OSI Model, Subnetting and Load Balancing. * Fluent in at least one scripting language, Python experience highly preferred. * Strong experience using logging and monitoring tools (ie: Splunk, Cloudwatch, NewRelic) * Experience with Ansible or other configuration management systems. * Strong familiarity with software configuration management systems and/or source code version control systems * Excellent English communication skills The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $100,000.00-$107,000.00.
