Position Overview

The Senior Technician performs vehicle repair and maintenance as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards and builds Customer loyalty by developing trust and ensuring confidence in AutoNation as a care-giver for their vehicle safety and reliability.

Who Would I Interact With?

This position interacts daily with Customers, Service Advisors, other Technicians, Parts Associates, Cashiers, Sales Associates and Managers, just to name a few.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

  • Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards to drive Customer loyalty.

  • Communicating with Parts Department and Service Advisors regularly to effectively manage production and Customer communication.

  • Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and perform repair, if authorized by the Customer.

  • Conducting multi-point inspections to make appropriate recommendations to ensure safety and reliability of Customer vehicles.

  • Documenting work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.

  • Maintaining an inventory of normal Technician's tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as "special tools."

  • Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.

  • Providing an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty

What are the requirements for this job

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years experience as an automotive technician

  • Automotive technical training (varies based on store needs)

  • Attention to detail

  • Organization and follow-up skills

  • Valid in-state driver's license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record

Working at our customers' facilities, the Commercial Service Technician will maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on Tennant products, and provide quality customer service and communication to minimize costs and ensure satisfaction with Tennant products. Essential Job Functions * Responsible for basic repair and service on small commercial floor care machines. Primarily servicing Tennant products but may also include some competitive products. * Responsible for scheduling-work and repairing small products at customer locations. * Satisfy in a timely and complete fashion, all business reporting documentation including but not limited to: timesheets, repair orders, machine checklists, receiving records, expense reports, and repair order logs. * Receive incoming parts orders, verify quantities, store material in proper service truck bin location, assign and adjust bin locations, and ensure that excess inventory is purge. * Advise the customer of his/her present and/or future service needs. * Estimate machine repair requirements and prepare necessary data to provide an accurate repair quote to the customer, including labor and trip charges. * Responsible for effectively scheduling time and arranging customer service calls to maintain effective customer service. * Advise sales representatives of potential customer applications for equipment replacements or additions. * Consistently present a professional image, both in personal appearance and condition of company equipment. * Install commercial products to satisfy national accounts and regional account requirements. Required Skills and Competencies * Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude. * Ability to safely use hand and power shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices. * Basic troubleshooting and repair skills in mechanical and electrical systems. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to understand and fill out service-related documents and paperwork. * Proven ability to multi-task and organize workload effectively. * Previous customer service experience strongly recommended. * Ability to adapt to a variety of environments, customer-needs, and instructions. * Basic inventory management skills. * Good estimating skills. * Must be able to wear safety shoes and glasses Required Education and Experience * High school diploma or equivalent. * Vocational school a plus * Valid driver's license plus meet Tennant Company driving policy requirements. * Experience working in direct contact with customers on service-related activities preferred. * Must display positive attitude and desire to satisfy customer requirements.
