Position Summary
Millennium Engineering and Integration Company is seeking a Senior Sensor System Engineer for a full-time position supporting Satellite System Acquisition at the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), a subordinate unit of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). SMC is headquartered at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) in El Segundo, CA. This work is at LAAFB and supports system engineering processes for USAF Space Overhead Persistent IR, Defense Weather satellite, and enterprise ground systems development, production, sustainment, and future programs. The goal is to ensure contractor compliance with technical requirements and mission assurance practices.
Seeking a specialized sensor system engineer to support SMC space programs. Past work should include primary and/or auxiliary payload sensors experience across the RF spectrum from UV to communication and radar systems. Should have knowledge or experience in design, manufacture, and fielding of sensor systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will monitor contractor and government requirements development and verification processes and work products.
The successful candidate will verify, track, and report on contractor schedules including accuracy, sufficiency of detail, and effectiveness of timelines, critical paths, and work structure
The successful candidate will provide systems engineering and verification status reports to USAF program management.
The successful candidate will identify, document, and advise on technical disconnects relating to the integration and test of sensor payload, spacecraft, and ground systems for compliance with contract requirements.
The successful candidate will facilitate mutual understanding between contractor and government program office of program contract requirements and will support and advise on government (AF and civilian) lead's objectives.
The successful candidate will provide periodic status reports (daily, weekly, and/or monthly, depending on need) to program and government program leadership, as required.
Skills
Work Experience
Experience, training, and/or certification in System Engineering, Program Management, Defense Acquisition, and contract technical evaluation desirable
System Engineering, 10 years required
Sensor operating concepts, 5 years required
System Integration and Test (I&T) experience desired
Sensor design knowledge desired
Sensor calibration principles knowledge desired
Remote sensing experience desired
Satcom experience desired
ISR, Electronic warfare, and DoD wargaming tactics and strategies knowledge desired
Expertise with Microsoft Office Products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook required. Working knowledge of Project desired.
Prior military space experience desirable

Education
Clearance Active US Government TS SCI clearance or SSBI less than five years old required
