Applied Materials' Silicon Product Group is searching for an Senior Sensor Engineer to join our Applied Learning Rate team! Applied Materials produces world's leading semiconductor equipment and the Learning Rate team develops enabling technologies to accelerate the next generation products. The position will entail one of the following tasks: Key Responsibilities

  • Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects, including development of key suppliers

  • Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex electrical problems with limited to no supervision

  • Specify the development of design or test engineering sensing systems, embedded software of complex scope

  • Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding complex electrical issues for specific projects

  • Implement concepts for wide range of complex product issues and solutions

  • Generate product specifications with limited to no supervision

  • Specify and/or perform engineering analysis of complex scope

  • Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports

Job Activities: * Develop an expert understanding of the physical system or sub-system you are developing embedded software for * Interact closely with the cross-functional R&D team to collect, clarify, and document control system requirements * Develop control system models and control algorithms for the assigned systems * Develop software to invoke the control system and achieve overall system and vehicle requirements * Work within the overall team to validate your software - including development and testing of physical prototypes * Trouble shoot software issues based on validation results * Support the launch of the vehicle and post-production customer support processes. Requirements Must Haves: * A 4-year degree OR a 2-year degree with 3 years experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar field * At least 5 years experience developing embedded software for mobile applications (auto, aerospace, specialty vehicle, etc) * Ability to use electronic measuring/test equipment and use analysis to make engineering judgments and resolve issues * You should be a "hands on person" that likes to tinker and is able to personally set-up and trouble shoot in-vehicle and lab tests (with the support of technicians as needed) Skills you need to succeed in this job: * Ability to develop embedded software using C/C++ * Knowledge of assembly language and microprocessor & micro-controller fundamentals (interrupt processing, registers, assembly code, ADC, DAC, Timers, PWM, etc) * Basic protocol application experience (CAN) * UML use experience (lass diagram, component diagram, state diagram, sequence diagram) * Electronics knowledge and application experience (e.g. use of oscilliscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters) * Understanding of how basic sensors work and how to use sensors outputs for control system function (e.g. rotary encoders, resistive ladder switches, operator buttons/interface). * Embedded systems development and testing for transportation or mobile equipment applications * Use of automotive New Product Development project management and software version control standards * Ability to develop, implement, and draw conclusions from engineering experiments * Knowledge of how vehicles/equipment are built and work (both hardware and software) * Basic "automotive technician-like" skills (yes...you'll need to be hands-on at times) * The more of these tools and technologies you know the better: * Embedded System Development & Testing, CANalyzer, CAN, LIN, automotive development standards, software development, electrical/electronic lab equipment use, C/C++, Rust, Go, Python, Perl, Control System Design, Test Design and Implementation, Matlab, Simulink, hands-on auto analysis and repair, vendor negotiations, technical communications Benefits * Overtime pay * Paid Time Off * Paid Holidays * Health, Dental, Vision Insurance * Life and Disability Insurance Lumenance Santa Clara CA
