Characterize CMOS image sensor performance by hands-on opto-electronic measurement. The end goal is to improve advanced pixel structures sensor image quality through in-depth understanding of sensor performance and operation.
Example duties include:
Characterize CMOS image sensor performance from raw image output of test camera.
Develop CMOS image sensor image quality testing methodology and plans, both for bench and production testing
Develop bench testing software; macros and scripts for data acquisition and analysis.
Analyze data and report finding using statistical data analysis methods
Write detailed technical reports on characterization results, as well as recommendations for next actions
Maintain a professional, organized, and clean lab environment
Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, including PN-junction diodes and MOS transistor
Basic knowledge about analog and digital circuit design
Hands-on experience working in a lab environment with sensitive measurement equipment and data acquisition
Hands-on experience with hardware communication protocols and interfaces, for example programming hardware through bit-level registers
Experience with general electrical lab hardware: voltage/multi-meters, oscilloscopes, network and parameter analyzers
Very good debugging ability in circuit operation, and device function
Ability to write software for macros / scripting to automate data acquisition and analysis, using VBA, Python, MATLAB, Excel
Self-discipline, initiative, and motivation; ability to work with little direct supervision
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience:
Image sensors and imaging/camera systems is a huge bonus, especially understanding of CMOS pixel circuit design, structure, and operation.
Knowledge of basic optics and lens parameters (F#, focal length, field of view, depth of field)
Experience with imaging related lab hardware: light sources, lux meters, test charts, opto-mechanical components, optical filters (band-pass, IR cut-off), lenses.
B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with 3 /1 years of relevant experience
