Seasoned individual contributor responsible for detection, response, and remediation of Physical Security and Information Security incidents as part of the Medtronic Global Security Command Center. Monitors world events for potential impact to Medtronic's personnel, assets and integrity of the company, responds to requests for global physical security incident assistance, and escalates as needed. Coupled with continually monitors security tools for anomalous and malicious behavior of systems on the Medtronic network, and escalates as necessary. Assists with maintenance and health of security related tools used by the Global Privacy and Security Office. Escalates incidents when necessary to the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) or Physical Security leadership.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • The person in this role will work Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm
  • 10:00 pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00 pm

  • 6:00 am

  • Provide global command and control resources in the following areas:

o Keeps up to date and well informed of international security risks and travel security concerns for all global personnel

o Alarm monitoring and assessment

o Dispatch, escalation and communications

o Emergency response and crisis incident management

o Impact analysis to crisis support

o Liaison for corporate notification in critical incidents

o Tracks, maintains, and stays informed of customer inquiries and support

o Business Intelligence, recognize incidents which may adversely impact personnel, assets and company integrity

o Maintain accurate records, files and gather metrics on all pertinent data concerning the badge production operation to ensure that security policies, procedures, and programs are in proper implemented and managed.

o Serve as a subject matter expert in security tools and processes with the ability to train others in protocols and methodology

o Liaison for notification, escalation, and explanation of the details of critical incidents to security management and/or business unit and corporate stakeholders

o Advanced knowledge of international relations, globalization, various cultural and social contexts in which MDT operates

o Act as a communications facilitator and coordinator to evaluate and present critical data during situations requiring escalation

o Coordinate and manage complex projects including those that span across work shifts, external functions, and geographies with high demand of quality that meets or exceeds established project deadlines

o Proactively develops procedures and processes to avoid problems. When problems are identified, develops a systematic approach to resolution

  • Provide intermediate monitoring of anomalous and compromised systems on the Medtronic network based on established procedures.

  • Perform initial analysis on information security and cyber incidents.

  • Maintain a strong code of confidentiality based on the sensitivity of the work being performed.

  • Provides escalation to senior analysts after initial analysis is conducted.

  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.

  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies.

  • Work is performed under general direction. Participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization.

  • Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Report and track cases in centralized logging tool

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE

  • Good organizational skills, with emphasis on multi-tasking and rapidly assessing and shifting priorities.

  • Exposure to information technology disciplines.

  • Intermediate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stressful situations

    Qualifications:
  • 3+ years' experience with security technology including alarm and access control and badging systems, CCTV systems, communication technologies, and/or software programs

  • Preference is given to applicants with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and those with relevant academic projects, internship experience, and/or IT certifications

  • Some experience IT, Information security, cyber, privacy knowledge, security incident management, and electronic forensics with healthcare IT solutions

  • Strong in interpersonal communication and demonstrate a collaborative work style.

  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.

  • Innovative thinker; ability to think outside of the current norms and processes

  • Independent self-starter

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Solid writing and presentation skills

  • Interest in novel applications of technology
