Federal Security Engineers at GuidePoint Security are experienced professionals who are autonomous, experienced, self-driven security fanatics. Our Federal Security Engineers are materially involved in the complete security technologies opportunity lifecycle, from pre-sales through delivery and have the freedom and control over how engagements are scoped and delivered. Our unique position as both a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) AND a professional services organization also requires our Federal Security Engineers to continually expand their knowledge and experience with the latest cutting-edge information security technologies. This helps satisfy our Federal Security Engineers desire to constantly expand their knowledge and better meet the needs of our clients.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proficiency in multiple security technologies and domains, including: Network Security, Endpoint Security, Analytics, Threat Intel, Cloud Security, Vulnerability Management, Application Security, and general networking/security background.

  • Proficiency in operating systems including Windows, RHES, CentOS and Ubuntu Linux

  • Proficient with network security architecture assessments; development of reference architectures

  • Proficiency in network security architecture and security control design and development experience

  • Security Engineers work from remote/virtual when not visiting client locations

  • Expectations for this role is 75% delivery

  • Preferred: Firewall Technologies (Check Point, Palo Alto), Endpoint Security (Crowdstrike, SentinelOne, Symantec, CarbonBlack), Analytics (Splunk, Exabeam), Threat Intelligence (Digital Shadows, Recorded Future), Vulnerability Management (Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7), Cloud Security (Azure, GCP, AWS), Application Security (Checkmarx, Veracode, Whitehat, Imperva, f5). Other technologies include, Varonis, Demisto, CyberArk, Okta, and f5

  • Proficiency in security technologies to include BlueCoat ProxySG, BlueCoat CAS, Palo Alto Networks,Cisco ASA, and other similar technology

  • Proficiency in operating systems including Windows workstation and server operating systems, RHES, CentOS and Ubuntu Linux

  • Proficiency with PowerShell or Phyton scripting language

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts including IP addressing (IPv4 and IPv6), arp, ICMP, TCP, UDP.

  • Proficiency in defending attacks utilizing security technologies, including web application firewalls, anti-DDoS technologies, advanced anti-malware solutions and network forensics and visibility solutions

  • Knowledge of industry standards including ISO 27000 series, NIST 800-53 (ICD 503) and other industry related security standards Knowledge of Federal policies and regulations for Information System Security (eg. NIST 800-53, FISMA, CDM, ICS directives) Information Systems architecture and security control design and development experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal certifications, accreditations, and onsite processes

Position Requirements:

  • Possess a current Security relevant certification or similar certification

  • Possess a current equivalent DoD 8750 IAT 2 certification and needed secondary Cyber Security DoD 8570 certification or IASAE level 3

  • Candidate must maintain the ability to work for various federal customers some of which may require security clearances and at a minimum a Public Trust.

  • Ability to perform security analysis, development and implementation of security policies, standards and guidelines

  • Ability to quickly explore, examine and understand complex security problems and how it affects a customer's business

  • Ability to listen and collaborate with audiences ranging from IT administrators to executive level stakeholders to help deliver solutions

  • Self-motivated and self-educating, yet willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow engineers

  • Well organized with a healthy sense of urgency, able to set; communicate; and meet aggressive deadlines with competing priorities

  • Experience with security and operational related use cases is desired

  • The ability to travel regionally up to 10-25%

  • This position is remote working from a home office when not required to be at a client site or Corporate office.
