Akamai is seeking an outstanding Security Engineer with experience integrating secure practices and measurements into development/operations (DevOps), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and architecting systems in cloud environments to join our team as we help secure software development, testing, packaging, and deployment processes for Enterprise Products and Services.

In this role, you'll work collaboratively with internal Engineering and Ops teams to secure the deployment and operations for Enterprise BU systems. You'll also help streamline security operations and processes through automation and orchestration tools in support of Industry Best Practices and various Audit & Compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cybersecurity and developing/automating creative solutions. As a Security Engineer, you'll be expected to identify security gaps in infrastructure and process, effectively execute projects/initiatives to address them, demonstrate excellent judgment, prioritization and communication of technical security risks, and act as a security liaison supporting the Enterprise Business Unit.

As a Senior Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing technical inputs, evaluating and recommending new and emerging security products and technologies to support monitoring on-prem and cloud based dynamic environments

  • Defining security configurations for threat detection and prevention tools

  • Designing automated workflows to streamline security operations

  • Monitoring and proactively managing supported products and services to assure their performance, availability, security, and capacity

  • Researching, analyzing and formulating recommendations regarding technologies, products and solutions to fulfill requirements within the Enterprise BU

  • Security tool deployment and administration (vuln, appsec, secops)

  • Strong understanding of enterprise logging, with a focus on security event logging and analysis

  • Knowledge of cloud system and network architecture and inter-relationships (technical and functional).

  • Designing, implementing, configuring and managing solutions within the supported Linux technologies, products, and services

  • Researching and recommending innovative and automated approaches for operational tasks which leverage available resources and simplify operational overhead

  • Developing, implementing and executing standard procedures for the administration, content management, change management, version/patch management, and life cycle management of systems

About the Team

The Enterprise Security & Compliance Strategy Team is part of the Enterprise Business Unit, which builds and maintains the technologies in the areas of Enterprise Application Access, Enterprise Application Acceleration and Enterprise Application Security. This newly formed team will be responsible for developing tactical and strategic methodologies, supporting security and compliance postures across the BU.


Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or
  • 6 years of relevant experience and a Master's degree

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux/Unix administration, including hardening and vulnerability management
  • 3+ years of experience managing AWS services (VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, KMS, Lambda, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience with automation and test harness development (Unit, Functional, Regression, Security)
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting (Python, Perl, Shell)
  • 2+ years of experience with infrastructure automation frameworks such as Fabric, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
  • 2+ years of experience with SDLC tools (GIT, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins) and source, build/release, and configuration management in a CI/CD environment

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Cloud, Public Cloud security best practices and monitoring of systems and services hosted in the cloud (IaaS, SaaS etc)

  • Knowledge of project management tasks, experience creating application documentation, and demonstrated ability to train other team members

  • Experience with virtualization and containerization solutions (Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Web Application Development (C, Java, Python, Javascript, Web Services/REST)

  • SOC or NOC experience

  • Experience with cloud vulnerability management tools (e.g. AWS Inspector, Alert Logic, Rapid7, etc.)

  • Experience with AppSec code review tools (e.g. Black Duck, , Veracode, Coverity, etc.)

  • AWS/Security certifications (e.g. AWS SA/DevOps, CISSP, SANS GIAC, CPT/CEH, etc.)
