What you'll be doing...

As a Senior Security Consultant within Verizon's Investigative Response Team, you will be expected to serve on a tactical arm of the team, conducting computer forensic analysis, data recovery, eDiscovery, and other IT investigative work. Due to the inherent volatility of investigative response work, the candidate will be expected to discharge the various responsibilities assigned to their role while successfully managing a variable caseload.

The selected candidate will be responsible for integrity in analysis, quality in client deliverables, as well as gathering caseload intelligence. The position will operate within a close team of computer forensics, fraud examiners, and other IT investigative experts, as well as customer management, counsel, human resources, and other IT technical personnel.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Must be able to assist customers in responding rapidly and effectively to computer-related incidents and should consistently exceed expectations while working in a customer-facing setting.

  • Have the capability to quickly identify the source of a security breach and move toward containment is essential.

  • Have proficiency in conducting live analysis on networks and across multiple platforms is desired. Must possess the ability to articulate well in both written and oral communication.

  • Must also be able to manage multiple projects on a daily basis.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Four to six years' of experience in Digital Forensics and Incident Response.

  • Experienced in Malware Analysis.

  • Knowledge and experience in the following operating systems: UNIX, Linux, Windows, and MacOS.

  • Experience in information security; network architecture; general database concepts; document management; hardware and software troubleshooting; email systems, such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes; Microsoft Office applications; and computer forensic tools such as EnCase and FTK.

  • Knowledge in evidentiary procedures, volatile criminal/civil situations, fraud analysis and IR fundamentals are ideal.

  • Experience conducting security assessments, penetration testing, and ethical hacking are required.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A Degree.

  • Requires competency in the tools, techniques, and methodologies surrounding incident response, computer forensics, and eDiscovery.

  • Experience in electronic crimes law enforcement, military intelligence, or with a security professional services organization.

  • PCI QSA/QIRA or GCFA certification, or they should be able achieve one within the first 6 months of employment.

  • Capability of leading an engagement in two or more of our core offerings:

  • PCI-related IR/Forensics investigations

  • Financial Services

  • Intellectual Property

  • Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

  • Expert Witness/Litigation Support

  • IR Training

  • eDiscovery

  • Mobile Phone Forensics

  • Experience in a security professional services consulting firm.

  • Demonstrated experience of managing the day-to-day aspects of protected customer relationships, as well as IT investigative cases and corporate security incidents.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, while maintaining confidentiality, and a professional image and approach with customers.

Verizon's offered CERT service will constitute of a designated CERT manager and a number of 1st line security incident responders, who will be responsible for receiving incident reports from several sources, doing initial analysis of the incoming incidents, gather all relevant and supporting information and escalating incidents to CERT 2nd line or to the customer whenever necessary. The incident handler will also work together with Verizon or third party MSSP to make sure that all relevant information is collected and recorded before escalating the incident further. The incident handler has good knowledge in the field of information security and incident response as well as related disciplines, such as computer networking and operating systems. Furthermore, youneedto be able to find and distill relevant information from multiple sources and communicate findings both internally and externally, clearly and succinctly. On a day to day basis the incident handler will work together with Verizon security services, Verizon CERT and other stakeholders to identify report and respond to security incidents in the customer's environment. Responsibilities: * Receive and monitor incident information from Verizon managed security services and other sources; * Review the collected incident data and confirm or reject incidents based on the analysis; * Collect supporting evidence and information from different sources based on initial analysis. Sources of information may include network traffic captures, OS or application level log files, antivirus logs, firewall logs etc. * Classify and prioritize incidents based on established criteria; * Record incidents to tracking systems and escalate to relevant stakeholders such as Customer experts or Verizon CERT 2nd line; * Track the status of escalated incidents and support in response effort whenever necessary. What we're looking for... You'll need to have: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or four or more years of work experience. * Four or more years of relevant work experience. * Two or more years of experience in a dedicated security position. * Clear and concise written and oral English, including the ability to product professional-level documentation. * Strong problem-solving and security analytics skills; Need to identify, correlate and analyze information from multiple sources, such as network traffic dumps, operating logs etc. * Ability to excel in high pressure environments. * Willingness to travel.
