Senior SDET roles are technical hands-on "player-coach" QA roles which are half architecting and writing test automation code, and half designing and managing test efforts in general. The writing test automation code part is working with integration endpoint-based test tools like Soap UI Pro, Jenkins, Load UI Pro, and ServiceV Pro, and NodeJS/Selenium for UI automation. The design and test management part is working with other delivery roles spanning Product Owners to Project Managers to Developer peers to ensure efficient workable test plans, accountability to metrics, and collaboration across the QA team.
This Senior SDET role will specifically drive the strategic path for product pricing and underwriting (UPAC) testing, unifying the QA manual and automated distributed model that exists today, evolving it to increase automated testing and test coverage, and ensuring that the strategic path is in line with the enterprise QA vision. This position reports directly to the QA Manager, and works closely with IT UPAC program and development management as well as QA manual and automation leads.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Craft and drive a unified manual and automated test strategy
Collaborate and drive the UPAC strategic path for planning and executing test cases
Enhance test case coverage through automation
Drive QA metrics across UPAC team
Quickly ramp on Homesite technology capabilities
Demonstrate strong management skill in understanding project goals, individual role operations, the delivery process, identifying problems, and unblocking testing through effective escalation
Demonstrate strong personal discipline in goal setting and achieving results
Understand how the internet works, how web services work, how RESTful services work, and how HTTP works
Knowledge of software quality assurance best practices, including test planning
Strong logical reasoning and ability to think before acting
Strong experience in communicating across functions as well as down into test organization and design across unit testing, integration testing, end to end testing, performance analysis, positive/negative testing, cross device testing, and project management
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
4 year degree in computer science or engineering field
5-7 years' experience writing software test automation and 3+ years manual testing
Insurance P&C knowledge a plus but not required
Certification in software quality engineering a plus but not required
Certification in Scrum or Agile a plus but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to physically work in downtown Boston M-F 9am-5pm
Working remotely is a long-term possibility for people demonstrating outstanding results
Ability to walk around the floor finding people to get answers
