Our Opportunity:

The Advisor Services Technology (AST) team is responsible for leading a coordinated technology approach to developing and maintaining Schwab's primary digital channels. Our goal is to create a seamless experience across our mobile, web and downloadable platforms that are powerful yet simple for our customers to use.

As a subdomain of the AST Team, this opportunity is a position in the AST CORE team, which is responsible for building technology to support multiple internal teams such as Customer Services and Advisor Services to empower our business success. As a member of the AST CORE, you will be the 50/50 Scrum Master and Project Manager for 2 teams, Service and Operations (S&O), and AST Alerts team, as the company transitions to Agile.

What you'll do:

We are looking for a motivated and passionate, Scrum Master and Project Manager to join our teams. You must actively collaborate with the team in all facets of the software development lifecycle. You must have the ability to be self-directed and able to work with an extended, distributed team to deliver products in a timely manner.

  • As an Agile leader, you lead, encourage, and facilitate an Agile culture of Continuous Improvement

  • Observe, coach, and empower both teams and individuals

  • Support Agile based SDLC, from ideation to delivery

  • Organize and facilitate all Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint, release planning, and demos

  • Track and communicate team metrics, for example velocity and sprint/release progress

  • Write status reports

  • Maintain information radiators in Confluence and Tableau

  • Author and maintain process documentation in Confluence and Sharepoint

  • Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice

  • Facilitate communication across the enterprise in Scrum of Scrums or in a Project Manager fashion

  • Support the development managers and project leads as necessary

  • Assist Product Owners by facilitating and organizing requirements gathering as well as helping to author stories

  • Act as a liaison between the Engineering team and the rest of the company

  • Adapting project scope, schedules, and resource assignments as required throughout projects to respond to emerging requirements and risks.

  • Help coordinate and manage project budget and resource alignment

  • Help facilitate creating time and financial estimates or quotes

What you have:

  • Must be a Certified Scrum Master with 3+ years Scrum Master experience

  • 8+ years of technology experience Previous development or QA experience required, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Previous technical knowledge (object oriented technology, C-Language, and database) is required

  • Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate

  • Experience working with an agile methodology on large scale, technically complex projects for a large enterprise

  • Ability to understand technical issues

  • Huge passion for continuous improvement both technology and process

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills

  • Ability to thrive in a flexible, multi-tasking, and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations

  • Shows a commitment to high ethical standards and strong core values

What you'll do: The Scrum Master provides effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership and coaching skills supporting the agile development process and delivery of our applications. As an agile expert, the Scrum Master will be responsible for enforcing the agile tenants as interpreted by our team, removing impediments and promoting empowerment.
