Position Summary:

Exosome Diagnostics, now a Bio-Techne brand company, is focused on developing and commercializing revolutionary biofluid-based diagnostics to deliver personalized precision healthcare to improve lives. Exosomes are messengers released by all living cells into biofluids, such as plasma, serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluid and saliva, forming a highly enriched source of RNA, DNA and proteins from their cell of origin. Our proprietary exosome-based technology platform can yield comprehensive and dynamic molecular insights about cells in the body without direct access to the actual cells. Through this novel technology, we are focused on transforming how cancer and other serious diseases are detected, diagnosed, treated and monitored. To this end, we will launch multiple diagnostics, including liquid biopsy tests for solid tumors and other disease areas.

We are currently expanding R&D capacity in our Waltham facility and are seeking a Senior Scientist with experience in multiplex qPCR/RT-PCR assay development, and molecular diagnostics area in general. This position provides a wonderful opportunity to participate in an entrepreneurial company growth with personal and professional development. It requires an individual with a can-do mindset who is adaptable and able to fill different roles and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have proven development success of robust diagnostic tests using qPCR/RT-PCR and/or other molecular test platforms, be highly independent, organized with an eye for details, be a good team player, and have excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and clinically test qPCR/RT-PCR based feasibility assays.

  • Participate in and technically lead development of requirements and risk analysis

  • Develop work routines including SOPs, plans/protocols, reports and records

  • Technically lead phase review, validation/verification under design control process.

  • Support custom projects for early stage biomarker discovery.

  • Timely report and document results and progress to colleagues and clients.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific field and 5+ years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory, preferably in biotech industry.

  • 3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostic test development, especially in qPCR/RT-PCR platform.

  • Familiarity of various nucleic acid testing platforms and technology landscape, especially techniques in ultra-sensitive detection of nucleic acids.

  • Familiarity in cancer biology and/or neuroscience field.

  • Prior experience working with human biofluids is a plus.

  • Prior experience working in a regulated environment is a plus.

  • Prior experience managing associates is also a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced with a variety of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, amplification and detection.

  • Self-motivated with know how to prioritize and schedule multiple concurrent projects.

  • Excellent communication skills and can implement technologies developed from R&D into a CLIA and/or FDA-regulated environment.

  • Excellent work ethics with high-level of professionalism and integrity.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to perform in vivo anti-tumor efficacy and PK/PD studies for drug candidates in both xenograft and syngeneic models. The candidate must be proficient in all forms of compound administration, including IV dosing. This position will also require tissue harvest for PK/PD and potentially PD analysis using various cell/ molecular biology techniques. Why you?
