What You Will Achieve
Pfizer's Oncology Research Unit (ORU) in La Jolla, California is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a background in hormone-driven cancers to join a dynamic and fast-paced discovery biology team. The successful candidate will join the Oncogene & Cancer Vulnerabilities group embedded within the Cancer Cell Biology division to support our collective efforts to discover and target drivers of prostate cancer disease progression. This is a lab-based position with a focus on designing and executing molecular and cellular-based assays as well as mentoring junior colleagues. The ideal candidate is a team player, has familiarity with prostate cancer disease biology, and a demonstrated track record of advancing innovative ideas into tangible assets. This individual will thrive in a matrixed environment with ample opportunities for personal growth and development.
How You Will Achieve It
Design, execute, and analyze experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to prostate cancer etiology.
Apply strong attention to detail in experimental design, execution, and interpretation.
Actively partake in scientific discussions and be informed of recent publications and advancements.
"Lead from the bench" by mentoring junior colleagues.

Qualifications
Must-Have
PhD degree in tumor/cancer cell biology, with 2+ years of post-doc or industry experience in the field of prostate cancer.
Track record of advancing independent research, evidenced by at least 1 first-author publication in a peer reviewed journal and presentations at an internationally recognized conference series.
Strong proficiency with foundational cell and molecular biology techniques; for example: construct design, stable cell line generation, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, IP/ChIP, 2D and 3D proliferation assays.
Familiarity with human organoid cultures, CRISPR-mediated gene editing, NGS sample prep, complementation assays (NanoBRET/NanoBiT), and flow cytometry.
Outstanding organizational, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Nice-to-Have
Proficiency in integration of molecular profiling data including transcriptomic, proteomic, and genomic datasets.
Experience using R programming language for interpretation of large multi-omic data sets.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing, sitting, bending, lifting, walking in a laboratory setting.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory.
Standard business office conditions; sitting, standing as appropriate.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
May require weekend work, as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,300.00 to $147,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
