Responsible for development of METROBus and METRORail operating schedules (trips, blocks, run cutting, and rostering) for at least one facility (bus or rail). Responsible for maintaining transit operating schedules assuring efficient and cost-effective operation of the transit system.
Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Responsible for the schedule development and run-cutting of transit schedules for at least one facility (bus or rail).
Develops and maintains schedule changes performing quality control to assure accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of schedules for three service changes, in-between service adjustments, and special requests each year.
Incorporates schedule changes into all affected documents (e.g. operator paddles, public guides).
Performs technical analyses regarding on-time performance, running time by segment and by route.
Recommends improvements regarding schedules.
Develops strategies for enhancement of transit service and effective utilization of manpower.
Prepares schedule data for operator maps, destination signs, and public guides.
Calculates number of routes and jobs available for sign-up, available days off, and prepares sign-up forms.
Assists in implementing sign-up results.
Responsible for assisting Manager in working with operator bidding module and operator time-keeping system (OTS).
Communicates and coordinates schedule changes and sign-up processes with other personnel.
Performs quality assurance/quality control for public timetable information and route maps.
Investigates and responds to customer inquiries.
Develops ad hoc reports.
Exports schedule data from Trapeze and MobileStatistics into Excel to perform necessary ridership and reliability analysis.
Researches data structures and intricacies of the Trapeze scheduling system.
Participates in new systems acquisition and serves as project manager when required.
Participates in ongoing mentoring and training of less experienced employees.
Responsible for training and upgrading of technical scheduling skills.
Rides select bus routes to monitor and evaluate route performance.
Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedure in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation Planning or related field preferred.
Minimum of six (6) years of direct experience in using automated scheduling and run cutting software such a Trapeze, HASTUS, or others.
Knowledge of public transportation infrastructure and operations including network definition/development, service scheduling, and development of vehicle and operator work assignments. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Strong Microsoft suite application skills.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships both internally and externally.
