Senior SAS Developer

Location: McLean, VA

Duration: 6 months


Basic Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience performing as a client interfacing data analyst, technical analyst or a business requirements analyst.

  • 3+ years of experience developing complex reports through hands-on coding in SAS.

  • Experience with troubleshooting and automation of SAS jobs and code.

  • Basic understanding of UNIX and a strong working knowledge of SQL.

  • Proficient with relational databases and with reporting tools such as MS Query and MS Access.

  • Foundational understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting principals.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, team player, detail oriented, with strong problem solving abilities.

  • Ability to think critically and logically.

  • Possess strong analytical and follow-up skills.

  • This position requires that the candidate interacts and works effectively with internal customers across departments. The position also requires the ability to manage and prioritize multiple report development/enhancement initiatives simultaneously and when necessary to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Responsible for the provision of timely, accurate and reliable reporting, the development and deployment of this reporting and the enhancement of the reporting process as needed.

  • Responsible for baseline and ad hoc reporting and business reviews as well as the preparation of key presentations and special projects as required.

Responsibilities: * Lead system design efforts for various client projects specifically related to ETL using Big Data with ability to present to a variety of stakeholders * Develop design patterns to source, process, and deliver diverse structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets through a Big Data ecosystem (data lake, ODS, data marts) * Develop jobs/tasks and ensure code/technical configurations are thoroughly unit-tested prior to delivery * Document specifications and interface control documents with detail source, target, and transformation logic to be implemented * Participate in system/integration testing as appropriate * Perform code reviews and other quality assurance steps as requested Qualifications: * A minimum of three years IT experience across various facets of the SDLC with specific focus in ETL, Big Data * 2+ years of hands-on development skills with Java, SQL, Hadoop, MS Azure HDInsight, Hive, Apache Spark and Kafka, Talend Studio * Experience working with Informatica and data analytics/reporting applications is a plus * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MIS from an accredited college/university preferred * U.S. citizenship required and the ability to obtain a U.S. Federal government security clearance within a reasonable period of time KPMG LLP (the U.S. member firm of KPMG International) offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
