Job Responsibilities

• Must have a strong, current knowledge of sales/use tax issues, techniques, and compliance in a multi-state environment

• Responsible for the exemption/resale certificate process

• Manage issuance of tax exemption and resale certificates to vendors

• Review, approve, upload, and track resale and exemption certificates from customers

• Perform tax research using available research tools

• Research and respond to sales/use tax questions submitted by internal and external customers, including responding in a timely, accurate, and complete fashion

• Provide guidance regarding taxability of products and services

• Provide support for D365 and Vertex O to ensure proper taxation

• Register in new jurisdictions for sales/use tax purposes as needed

• Assist in audit defense efforts as needed

• Contribute insights to the development of automated solutions to support our compliance process and tax-related systems

• Communicate effectively with team members and customers to provide exceptional service and support

• Assist in reconciliation of sales/use tax workpapers including sales/use tax accounts

Qualifications

Education: BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred

Experience:

• Min 3-5 years in a multi-state sales/use tax environment

• Be a team player with strong analytical and communication skills who is able to work independently with minimal supervision

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and manage priorities

• Have experience responding to customers' sales tax questions (includes ability to perform tax research and provide taxability guidance)

• Previous sales/use tax audit experience

• Experience evaluating vendor billed sales tax

• Contractor/contracting industry experience preferred

• Regularly assess processes and procedures for areas of improvement and efficiency

Systems:

• Vertex O (strongly preferred) or other sales/use tax determination software experience

• D365 experience a plus

• MS Office

• Power BI, MS Sequel, Mastermind a plus
