We are currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Global Customer Manager at our Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI.

This person will have responsibility for a complex customer account (Ford Motor Company). When exercising this function, they will work in the acquisition of customer programs as well as build on and maintain a superior relationship with the customer throughout all functions and areas.

Fulfilment of our internal objectives and enhancement of customer satisfaction are the focus of the role. This role is responsible for profitable growth, undertaking commercial and technical negotiations with our customers and negotiating the contract terms. In addition, this role will act as the central contact both for the customer and internally for all aspects of customer-specific issues.


  • Represent the business unit to our customers in a highly professional and ethical manner promoting product leadership in component and systems technology.

  • Influence a team of people to meet our growth, profitability, EVA, market share, investment initiative, and product leadership objectives for respective customers.

  • Leads global commercial negotiations for respective customer and ensures compliance to annual goals and objectives.

  • Monitors market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and funnels relevant information to the appropriate Product Business Director for consolidation in our market sensing process and develops sales forecasts and monitors market trends throughout the year for use in monthly forecast adjustments.

  • Develops (with input from cross-functional teams) and deploys comprehensive customer and pricing strategies that improve the profitability and growth of the business unit.

  • Articulates a clear understanding of our market share, competitive position, and profitability at assigned account.

  • Develops and deploys the customer interface strategy (points of contact, frequency) and builds strong rapport with key decision makers, and sponsors at our key accounts while managing the overall day to day activity.

  • Develops proactive new business opportunity (NBO) plans, tracking and recording progress toward sales objectives.

  • Takes ownership of total customer satisfaction, providing global coordination on customer issues, monitoring our performance on key supplier metrics and pursuing corrective action plans as appropriate.

  • Assures compliance with contract review procedures and the business unit's commercial policies.

  • Manages and participates in the development and scheduling of special projects and customer events.

  • Provides global coordination on customer issues where required.


  • More than 10 years related sales or engineering experience

  • 10 years' minimum of automotive industry experience

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Positive charisma and assertiveness

  • Entrepreneurial thinking and result-focused action

  • Experience with complex products

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • General willingness to travel

This position will adhere to the Global Star Safety Framework as well as safety rules, use of equipment, protective devices, safety practices, and training which are outlined in the BorgWarner PTC Safety Policy Manual. This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing incidents and illnesses. He/she must take every reasonable precaution for the protection of themselves and coworkers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and behaviors to their immediate supervisor.

Give training when needed. * Interface with other GCM regional managers in all markets for planning, idea sharing, risk management structuring strategies/programs. * Manage the IRD team to maintain an extreme level of trade accuracy when: suppling client quotes, trade offsets, exposure limit maintenance and human error when on all trading. * Consistently insure staff adheres to all bank KYC, AML, CIP and department specific policies risk management policies. * Direct reports PMP development, yearly evaluations and general administrative duties * Hiring and remediation of all IRD staff * Daily Interaction risk and P&L review with GCM Manager Additional information: IRD activities include but are not limited to: Highest knowledge level of all IRD products and client application, Swap documentation (ISDA), Dodd Frank regulatory compliance documentation (ECP, GMEI), recap interpretation and credit approval requirements, loan pricing and amortization dynamics, loan prepayment concepts, interest rate markets, knowledge of Openlink derivative system for pricing and analytics and Bloomberg.
