As a Sales Engineer for Splunk's AppDev Business Unit, you will become part of a world-class pre-sales team that provides technical and thought leadership of Splunk's Observability focused solutions to the sales organization and to Splunk's prospects and customers. You will work directly with customers while acting as the subject matter expert across Splunk's AppDev solutions including the SignalFx, VictorOps, Omnition and core Splunk technology products. You will consistently be delivering product demonstrations that directly address customer pain and emphasize Splunk's unique value proposition. During the sales cycle, you will guide prospects through trials and proof of concepts, demonstrating Splunk's ability to meet and exceed customer requirements and building a positive relationship that will go beyond the initial transaction and provide value to our customers for years to come. Finally, you will have the opportunity to work directly with our Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to share your knowledge and experiences to ultimately improve our business and our customers' success.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the top minds in the Observability space, and partner with development and product management team members to redefine how customers manage, monitor and analyze their infrastructure, trace and log data

  • Understand and help to orchestrate all phases of the sales cycle, including leading proof of concepts and other customer validation activities

  • Be comfortable working with customers to help them define their future architectural roadmap as a trusted advisor

  • Lead all aspects of the adoption, optimization and integration of Splunk's AppDev solutions into the customers' business architecture

  • Be successful working with all levels of an organization from the C-suite down to individual developers and SRE's

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience working in Sales Engineering or other pre-sales roles that are customer facing

  • 3+ years' experience working in engineering/software development roles

  • Hands-on experience working with modern programming languages including: Java, Python, PHP, .NET, Ruby,Node.js, Go, etc.

  • Experience selling and working with pure SaaS solutions in multi-tenant architectures

  • Experience with working with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Lambda (preferred)

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure (certification is preferred)

  • Modern application architecture (micro-services) understanding

  • Experience with various monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, etc. (preferred)

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment

  • Encouraged travel is approximately 25%, focused primarily in region

  • Experience with leading and running POCs required

  • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring Tools (preferred)

You are responsible for supporting the efforts of the Operators in the areas of store sales and merchandising, store appearance, marketing and profitable business growth Responsibilities Include: * Responsible for coaching and assisting Operators in achieving profitable results in sales, marketing, merchandising and inventory management. * Supports the Operator in the enhancement and development of the Owner-Operator model (60%) * Acts as a coach to the Operator, including but not limited to the following: * Develops an annual business plan with the Operator * Fosters the relationship of the Operator and Grocery Outlet Inc. * Encourages participation of the Operator in open dialogue to improve the overall profitability and success of the store * Supports the execution of chain, regional and local marketing efforts * Assists in the development of new sales and merchandising strategies * Evaluates region and store performance (20%) * Reviews all elements of the Store Performance Scorecard and coaches/recognizes Operators when improvement is needed or performance is achieved * Strives for excellence by raising the level of standards of performance, insuring proper presentation, merchandising and pricing of GOI inventory. Monitors and addresses product handling policies and procedures * Assists the Operators in complying with Federal, State and local laws and regulations (5%) * Assists the Operators in remaining independent and non-union (5%) * Evaluates the readiness of Aspiring Operators in Training (AOTs) (10%) * Perform other duties as assigned About You: * A degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Five to ten years of retail management experience * Three to five years in a multi-unit capacity * Must be able to make timely and effective decisions * Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, financial statements, government regulations and legal documents * Ability to write presentations and present information effectively to senior management(must have experience in this area), public groups, suppliers and Operators * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists * Thorough knowledge of the retail food business including but not limited to perishable department operations * Proven experience and demonstrated knowledge in merchandising techniques * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals * Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with all Owner/Operators and company personnel * Proficiency in MS Office properties including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint * Willing and able to travel 50-70% to stores, corporate, meetings and home office Grocery Outlet San Jose CA
