Senior Sales and Marketing Program Manager

National Instruments is seeking a Senior Sales and Marketing Program Manager to manage the successful implementation of the configure, price, and quote program (CPQ) at National Instruments. The CPQ program is a multi-year investment in enterprise-wide Configure, Price, Quote business processes and technology that allow dynamic configuration, flexible pricing, customer-focused, sales-friendly proposals and operationally efficient quoting of NI systems and products to enable the NI core strategic vision.

The CPQ Program Manager will develop strong relationships with business functions and IT teams across the company to deliver project results that align with our strategic direction including focus on guided selling, rule-based product configurations, pricing, deal management, recurring revenue business, automation of workflows and much more. This role will succeed through engaging with stakeholders and execution teams across a wide variety of business and IT functions driving their success with world-class program management skills.

Successful candidates must possess a high degree of of initiative, be able to successfully command and facilitate groups, and must communicate in a clear and concise manner to drive alignment and decision making across business functions and execution teams.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Creating program / project charter, plan, schedule, and key milestones

  • Align with Product Ownership to execute on defined vision and deliver key business capabilities

  • Support strategic business planning including current/future state, priorities, action plans, and performance measures.

  • Interface with stakeholders directly to provide regular updates on the CPQ program, the pipeline, and priority of projects with a focus on building a program that compliments the business strategy

  • Provide strong analytical thinking for existing business problems while working with stakeholders to clearly identify business requirements to enable business capabilities

  • Achieve program results by leveraging project management, process design, and change management methodologies

  • Faciliate, manage, and document key business decions that affect scope, schedule, and resourcing

  • Align with other strategic programs to ensure dependencies are identified and properly coordinated

  • Identify, mitigate, and communicate risks

  • Develop policy and business rules that efficiently govern processes globally while accounting for regional differences

  • Measure individual adoption, usage, and project objectives to ensure change management effectiveness

  • Leverage continuous improvement and process analysis methodologies to analyze complex processes, identify gaps and design new effective business processes

  • Assist process owners in assessing stakeholder needs and drive execution of CPQ strategy and process

  • Establish and document processes and policies that support the continuous improvement of business practices and customer experiences for CPQ

  • Develop communication plans and effectively communicate to all levels from senior management to individual contributors


  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college/university

  • 10 years of program management experience leading cross-functional programs

  • 3-5 years of experience working in an Agile development environment

  • 3-5 years of experience in CPQ and/or quote to cash business processes preferred

  • Strong executive presence and ability to build and maintain critical relationships

  • Deep understanding of what is required to execute transformational strategic change for the organization

  • Proven experience and track record of leading the delivery of highly complex programs

  • Bias for action and work comfortably with ambiguity

  • Strong understanding of how to design and deploy governance to improve project outcomes

  • Influence decisions and change management through collaboration, leadership, and a customer-focused approach

  • Ability to make and own key decisions as a leader, while balancing input from key stakeholders and leading through challenging situations and decisions

  • Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity, and providing creative solutions

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Experience using Visio or similar process mapping/modeling tools

  • Experience with SaaS platforms strongly preferred

  • Experience working with System Integrators preferred

  • Experience managing Sales and Marketing projects

Responsibilities: * Enable the AMER Field marketing team through providing operational insight and support on campaign strategy & operations, lead management, and reporting. * Drive program and process optimization in terms of campaign performance, lead management, customer references, executive engagement and overall KPI framework. * Help define and improve processes AMER Field Marketing uses throughout its different go to market motions by supporting strategic and tactical programs on operational activities/priorities. * Develop the appropriate operating model between Global Marketing Operations, Enterprise Data and Analytics and AMER Field Marketing to execute the marketing strategy and maximize its results. * Lead projects across field marketing, marketing operations, IT, and data management to deliver on business requirements. * Provide clear and timely communication regarding operational project status to relevant stakeholders. * Drive continuous improvement in operations through regular analysis of root cause challenges and remediation plan development and implementation. * Analyze and track program metrics and trends to evaluate success of marketing strategy and provide insights back to the integrated marketing team. * Represent operations in various cross-functional forums and publish periodic status reports. * Conduct post project reviews and provide analysis and insights to relevant stakeholders. Required Skills: * 3-5 years of experience in marketing/sales, preferably B2B (alternatively 6 years of relevant experience plus MBA). Prior experience in marketing performance analysis, marketing operations or strategy consulting very useful. * Exceptional analytical skills with real passion in using data and quantitative analysis to drive business results. Fluency in B2B marketing and sales analytics. Digital marketing experience would be a bonus. * Experienced at simultaneously managing different projects. Excels at creating new processes or improving the existing ones. * Excel at collaboration. Able to work with technical teams to improve analytics reporting while communicating results succinctly to business stakeholders at the same time. * Natural storyteller with strong communication skills: experience in turning insights into succinct recommendations for a variety of audience from senior executives to practitioner level. * Structured, discipline, able to manage project independently and seek opportunity to improve results proactively. * Technical skills: master Excel and Salesforce reporting. * PMP certification is a plus. * Hands on experience managing programs across Marketing Automation tool (Eloqua preferred) and CRM (SFDC preferred) is a plus.
