Your Role

The Senior SHE Engineer leads and improves Atlas Copco safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure safe working conditions, compliance with regulations, continued certification to ISO standards, and achievement of Atlas Copco Sustainability Measurements. You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead the Safety, Health, Environmental Team to lead Atlas Copco's Safety, Heath and Environmental Goals

  • Responsible for certification of Atlas Copco ISO14001 Environmental Management System

  • Responsible for certification of Atlas Copco ISO45001 Health & Safety Management System

  • Responsible for Atlas Copco compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations

  • Lead sustainability improvement projects targeted at reducing waste, energy consumption, water use, and CO2 emissions following Atlas Copco's Science-based Targets (SBT)

  • Write and approve policies, procedures, and work instructions related to SHE programs

  • Lead Safety Management Committee meetings, maintain meeting minutes, assign/follow up on committee action items, and ensure closure to action items occurs promptly.

  • Lead improvement activities of the plant's safety, health, and environmental performance.

  • Continually improve Atlas Copco insight survey safety index score

  • Work to achieve Atlas Copco health & safety and sustainability KPIs

  • Develop and maintain safety awareness communication processes, including appropriate metrics (i.e. number of days without a lost time injury)

  • Coordinate globally with PCUK and other Atlas Copco entities to ensure Atlas Copco EH&S programs comply with all Atlas Copco requirements

  • Lead investigations of New Hudson site accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine root causes and to implement preventive and corrective actions.

  • Keep up to date about current policies, regulations, and industrial processes associated with Henrob Corporation operations.

  • Interface with regulatory authorities (local, state or federal)

  • Be the site security officer managing chemical vulnerability information

  • Recommend / implement safety features to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and other hazards, including documentation, training, and enforcement of PPE requirements.

  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing to Safety Team and management staff as required

  • Complete quarterly sustainability reports

  • Present sustainability results and actions to the Senior Management Team and Atlas Copco ITBA Board

  • Review and ensure environmental and employee safety programs and training are up to date, maintained, and compliant with Federal/State laws

  • Oversee the operation of wastewater treatment operations, including maintenance of all required permits & ordering of equipment and chemicals for operation

  • Other related duties as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager, and Management Team

To succeed, you will need

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the U.S.

  • Knowledge of ISO14001/45001 requirements

  • Training/Certifications in wastewater, DOT Hazardous Materials, RCRA, ISO14001, and ISO45001

  • Strong project management and time skills

  • Good communication and organizational skills with all levels of the local organization

  • Communicate with the Senior Management Team, including the Atlas Copco ITBA Board

  • Ability to guide Senior Management Team toward achieving Atlas Copco KPIs

  • Creative thinking skills for improving our sustainability metrics

  • High energy level and strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels and departments

  • PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs

EDUCATION OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; professional certifications preferred (CSP, CHMM, ASP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):

  • Ability to move about the manufacturing facility in a safe manner

  • Occasional local, national, and international travel may be required
