We're looking for a highly motivated Sr. Revenue Accountant to join our growing Finance team. The ideal candidate for this opportunity should have a combination of public accounting and industry experience. This position will assist the Revenue Manager with month-end close and technical accounting needs. The ability to effectively manage the month-end close and play an advisory role for contract review process to ensure proper revenue recognition compliance will be key to success.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monthly close on revenue and cost of revenue accounting to ensure proper recognition of revenues and cost of revenue.

  • Prepare Balance sheets Account reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly Revenue and cost of revenue for management review;

  • Maintain and update internal Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for revenue and royalty recognition and participate in SOX testing

  • Collaborate with the sales organization, order management team and MIS teams to ensure that all revenue and royalty transactions are booked in accordance with Company's revenue and royalty recognition policies

  • Perform contract review, understand revenue recognition implications and propose accounting treatment.

  • Prepare and reconcile billings for Advertising, Mobile Nav and Auto;

  • Apply customer payments & collections

  • Prepare accounting memos as necessary to document the Company's accounting treatment

  • Prepare schedules in support of internal and external audits

  • Prepare SEC disclosure notes

Required Experience:

  • Strong Accounting concepts; knowledge of ASC 606 would be a plus, but not required

  • Must be excel savvy

  • 3-4 years progressive experience, Big 4 preferred

Desired skills or experience:

  • Industry experience with public company is a plus

  • CPA is preferred

  • Strong attention to detail, well organized and able to work effectively with all levels

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned responsibilities and work under minimum guidance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Use your deep understanding of revenue recognition and experience in contract structuring to assist Sales, Business Unit Management and Legal in development of customer contracts in compliance with US GAAP and Company policies. As the representative within the Controller's organization, this role is a key participant in the sales contracting activities for the entire organization. Application of creative solutions will be essential to your and the business' success as we move forward in our position as a multi-segment industry leader. Key part of core team implementing revenue accounting policies, controls and processes, preparation of sales contract revenue memos and related analysis, and collaborating with the members of the Revenue transactional analysis team. This position will provide training and development opportunities for others in the overall revenue organization. Responsibilities: * Interface with Business Unit finance and operations groups to provide revenue guidance and align on revenue forecast and actuals * Review all documentation (Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Sales Approval forms, etc.) of all revenue items to ensure compliance with GAAP and Applied Policy * Partner with the Deal Desk and regional sales groups to understand and correctly account for large customer deals * Reconcile and maintain the accuracy of backlog * Prepare various quarterly reports * Prepare materials for internal and external audit requirements and respond to audit inquiries * Seek ways to continually improve processes and efficiency Requirements: * BS or BA in Business or Accounting CPA certification is preferred. * 5-8 years of experience in Accounting / Finance, including National CPA firm experience. * Significant revenue recognition experience required – SAB 104, Multiple Element Arrangements, Software Revenue Recognition, Contract Accounting and related accounting pronouncements. Knowledge of ASC 606 preferred * An ability to understand complex transactions and propose solutions to structuring issues that are compliant with Applied's policies and US GAAP. * Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate the effective writing of internal and external documents and to facilitate decisions and achieve results. * Strong proficiency in using Excel or other related tools, experience with SAP preferred * Proven competencies in communication, financial analysis and working across functions with different levels of management to drive results * Familiarity with sales contracts and legal terminology is essential. * Confidence, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a dynamic environment across all levels of management and geographies.
