What You'll Be Doing:

Evolent Health is looking for a Revenue Accountant to be a key member of the Accounting and Finance team for this fast growing technology company based in Arlington. This individual will play a critical role in executing Evolent Health's mission by assisting in the day-to-day accounting activities and month-end financial reporting requirements, while being actively involved in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes.

  • Oversee accounting transactions across a wide range of business processes

  • Manage day to day accounting tasks, take an active role in the monthly close

  • Process customer invoices in a timely manner

  • Perform contract balances rollforward in conformity with ASC 606

  • Analyze contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition methodology

  • Work with multiple project teams across the company

  • Lead contributions to financial audits and reviews

  • Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations

  • Participate in special projects and possible M&A diligence or integration efforts

The Experience You'll Need (Required):

  • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance

  • Active CPA license

  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting, preferably Big 4

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills and general accounting experience and knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Finishing Touches (Preferred):

  • Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS), preferably Workday

  • Exposure to ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts With Customers

You Are a Revenue Assurance Accountant * Support accounting for Global Retail Revenue including Enterprise and Education, Retail and Direct to Consumer sales channels. Includes revenue from software, subscription services and bundled software and subscription service products. * Account for and track special revenue arrangements. * Account for payments made to retail partners including promotional rebates and cooperative marketing, including coding of AR claims. * Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. * Perform ongoing internal controls and reviews of revenue recognition. * Monitor and review system transaction processing to detect/address errors as necessary. * Participate in SEC reporting process and internal management reporting, as necessary. * Coordinate closely with several different teams in the organization, including, but not limited to, the retail sales team, financial planning, accounts receivable and order management. * Coordinate with external auditors, as necessary. * Ensure SOX controls are properly performed and documented. * Reports to Manager – Retail Revenue Assurance. Initiative: Identify opportunities for streamlining processes. Strive to be proactive with learning higher level functions within the group. Accountability: Completeness and accuracy of work while ensuring proper application of GAAP. Adaptability: Ability to function well in a fast paced, dynamic environment while having the ability to manage competing priorities. Collaboration: Develop and maintain working relationships with members of FP&A, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable, Order Management and other groups as necessary. All About You * Degree in Accounting from an accredited university. * Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills. * 1-2 years of accounting experience in Public Accounting or public company experience * Experience with revenue recognition, with preference for software and service revenue recognition, multiple element arrangements, gross vs net revenue policies for re-sellers, and accounting for rebates and customer incentives/payments preferred. * CPA license or working towards CPA license preferred. * Ability to build strong working relationships across the organization. * Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel. * Oracle ERP system knowledge a plus. * Solid organizational and analytical skills.
