Senior Resource Strategy Analyst III IV
In this role, you'll provide technical analysis, including economic evaluations of PGE supply, demand and integration resource options needed to meet the electric energy needs of PGE customers. You'll also provide analysis and information to support recommendation of actions regarding power supply portfolio strategy, resource acquisitions and procurement; as well as economic and risk evaluation of electric generating assets, complex contracts and structured energy commodity transactions. You'll contribute to the development and enhancement of models and methodologies used for portfolio strategy development. You'll also support Resource Strategy projects and initiatives with market research and thought leadership. The position will be filled by candidates whose skills best fit the position at either the Analyst III level or Analyst IV level.
At the Analyst III level, you will support our journey by:
Providing analytical support for Resource Strategy team by ensuring models and methodologies meet all analytical and procedural requirements, and solutions are accurate and follow sound business practices.
Utilizing, developing and implementing models used for integrated resource planning. Modeling the elements and relationships accurately.
Developing the input assumptions for the models. Analyzing and understanding those assumptions, developing an ownership of them and certifying their accuracy and completeness. Accurately inputting the assumptions into the models.
Critically interpreting, questioning and validating analysis results to ensure they make sense and are consistent with expectations.
Developing and maintaining an organized information/data base of integrated resource planning-related information.
Writing reports that clearly explain analysis, results, conclusions, and issues. Effectively explaining work products and thought processes.
Doing peer reviews of the work of Resource Strategy analyst colleagues and provide feedback.
Supporting the development of economic evaluation and risk models for power supply resource acquisitions and contract structures.
Tracking the status of and issues related to other regional utility resource plans and procurement initiatives.
Developing and maintaining a basic awareness of federal and state environmental and other regulatory policy related to electric generation, transmission and resource planning.
Working with other organizations in the Company to perform economic due diligence analysis as needed on generation proposals.
At the Analyst IV level, the work would be performed with greater independence, greater depth of understanding, and would require less supervision.
At the Analyst III level, you will bring the following skills to our team:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or related financial or scientific discipline and minimum 4 years' related work experience. Advanced degree in relevant field with minimum 3 years related work experience also meets requirement.
Advanced skills and experience using MS Excel for economic and risk modeling.
Effective understanding of and experience applying project economic analysis concepts and pro-formas.
Education in and experience applying statistical concepts, such as stochastic analysis. (preferred)
Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles and concepts.
Experience with SQL, ACCESS or other databases preferred.
Experience with Visual Basic or other programming experience, or demonstrated willingness to learn.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Self-starter and ability to work autonomously or with limited supervision.
