The Senior Analyst, Residuals & Industry Forecasting determines the residual value forecasts for vehicles and provides data-driven insights for Kelley Blue Book's industry and media partners. The Senior Analyst needs to have exceptional analytical skills and is expected to have a deep knowledge of the automotive industry with an emphasis on segment, brand and model trends, economic indicators and consumer behaviors. The Senior Analyst should be a thought leader on residual value forecasts and the automotive industry.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the new and used car market, from wholesale and retail perspectives, including details down to the latest vehicle features and equipment
Perform data analysis using analytical tools and industry knowledge to support residual value forecasts for specific models and segments
Ensure vehicle assignments are thoroughly analyzed and completed on a timely basis to support the residual valuation process
Develop researched and vetted positions for internal or client reports as well as and industry and media inquiries
Contribute to the development of in-depth consultative studies providing residual value insights and recommendations regarding upcoming vehicles, features, and pricing
Lead internal and client-facing meetings, including presentation of residual value forecasts, methodology, and analysis
Review statistical model outputs from the analytics team and provide thoughtful feedback to improve its reliability
Attend industry events such as conferences and product reviews, sometimes as a subject matter expert, representing the organization
Occasional overnight travel (up to 25%) by land and/or air.
Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
A major in economics, mathematics, statistics, business, or similar quantitative field is preferred.
Acute analytical abilities and attention to detail are essential for this position.
Must be able to analyze and transform large data sets into meaningful insights and tools
Can work independently and formulate analysis plans for ad hoc requests
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Can communicate analytical results clearly via reports and presentations
Ability to recommend improvements to internal methodology and processes
Ability to train and help develop junior team members
Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Project management or product management experience is a plus
Experience with data software such as SQL or Tableau is a plus
Responsibilities will include driving vehicles for evaluation purposes, which will require qualified candidates to be able to pass a standard Motor Vehicle (MVR) check
Qualified candidates must also be able to pass a standard background check and drug screen
