Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Health Sciences. Two (2) years of directly related, full-time experience with advanced research related laboratory activities of cancer biology of lung cancer and breast cancer with emphasis on metabolomics, proteomics and metastasis.
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Health Sciences.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a more broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of a research project or program for Dr. Fei Chen in the Department of Pathology and Cancer Center, incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data on the metabolic and epigenetic reprogramming of cancer stem cells and cancer cells in response to environmental hazards, such as toxic metals and carcinogens; conduct in vitro and in vivo laboratory experiments; apply CRISPR-Cas9, microRNA, siRNA techniques to study functions of the specific metabolic cancer stem cells.
Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective
operation of the program.
Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance the goals of the project.
Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
Prepare reports, drafts and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.
May develop and maintain databases.
Incumbents may be responsible for orienting/training others to the project/program and checking work of less experienced employees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
