Sponsored Programs is part of the Office of Research, a group dedicated to aiding the research community in navigating the life cycle of their work, from finding funding to creating proposals to helping inventions find their way to the public.
The Senior Report & Data Analyst, within Sponsored Programs, is responsible for the creation, presentation and delivery of standard and ad-hoc reports related to the University's sponsored research activity. This position provides guidance, training and mentors the Report & Data Analyst and others on the Operations team.
This includes requirements gathering for new reports, establishing an appropriate data source, leading Quality Assurance checking, testing procedures, and distributing reports to the University research community and to external stakeholders. Serves as a subject matter expert on internal and external systems related to sponsored research.
S/he will proactively review Business Warehouse data, Sharepoint Data, and Kuali Research Data for quality and consistency, displaying exceptional judgement in order to resolve data discrepancies. S/he will complete report and data testing in conjunction with IS&T, and correct data problems. S/he will work with the individual Sponsored Programs teams (pre-award, award setup, subaward) as well as other stakeholders such as Institutional Research, to provide solutions for data reporting.
The Senior Report & Data Analyst will be responsive to requests from University leadership for information on sponsored research activity. S/he will also provide training to the university research community with regard to accessing and analyzing report data, and will develop documentation as needed. In addition, the Senior Report & Data Analyst provides leadership to the group in the form of leading regular cross-training and knowledge sharing sessions focused on the use of legacy data as well as complex proposal, award, and expenditure data.

The Senior Report & Data Analyst must have a bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of experience in the field of research administration. S/he must have familiarity with one or more enterprise research administration or research accounting systems and with the data needs of research administration business areas.
S/he must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with the visualization and presentation of critical data. The Senior Report & Data Analyst must be extremely detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. He or she must have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working as part of a team.
He or she must be comfortable cross-training and providing guidance to other team members. The Senior Report and Data Analyst is called upon to prepare and analyze data for the University's Senior Leadership and Stakeholders.
