The Indiana University School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for Senior Research Professor (55% parttime) within the drug discovery and development team led by Drs. Chunhai "Charlie" Hao and Anita Bellail in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Successful Candidate will lead medicinal chemistry and drug development from lab to clinic.
Our team investigates targeted protein degradation for the discovery of small molecule degraders. The team has reported the first small molecule degraders of SUMO1 protein as novel anticancer drugs (Bellail et al. Science Translational Medicine 2021, 13:e12947). Recently, the team has also identified small molecule degraders of amyloid precursor protein (APP) as anti-aging drugs for Alzheimer's diseases ( https://doi.org/10.1101/2023.12.29.573648).
The position is supported by the team research fund including NIH grants. The salary is based on industrial experience in drug discovery and development and capped at the NIH Executive maximum level II and available for an initial appointment of one year, renewable for subsequent years.

Basic Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry and have more than 15-year experience in pharma at senior executive levels.
The candidates have demonstrated expertise in chemical design of compounds, synthesis, and optimization.
The candidates have demonstrated records in development of compounds from bench to clinical trials.
The candidates have demonstrated records in discovery and development of CNS drugs and anticancer drugs.
The candidates have shown leadership in supervision and management of undergraduates, graduates, fellows, and junior faculty.
The candidates have excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to write peer reviewed quality work or invention disclosures for patent applications and scientific publications.
