The Impact You Will Have:

The Senior Research Manager of IP Investigation help lead efforts of validation and evaluation of all existing VitalSmarts intellectual products. In addition, this person helps in the search for new ideas that can transform lives and organizations as well as searching out new applications for existing intellectual prodcuts. This person's efforts have an important impact on VitalSmarts marketing credibility, and extend our work into new and important problem areas. Their works is critical to the success of our marketing, sales and product development teams . Specific activities include include, but are not limited to: industry research studies, marketing research projects, client initiative measurement, and new IP evaluation. This person will be required to both write survey instruments, administer surveys, analyze data, find trends, patterns, and correlations, and distill the findings in consumable data points. Ideal candidates will be skillful writers for popular as well as academic audiences, and will be effective platform communicators where needed. Our ideal candidate is someone with deep curiosities about human behavior, and a desire to apply and teach social science concepts to leaders of influence worldwide. They will also be skilled at consulting with and working alongside clients to measure the impact of their training initiatives.

Responsibilities

A Day in the Life:

The Senior Research Manager will lead the following programs and campaigns under the direction of the Vice President of Research:

  • Proactively identify challenges and trends worth researching in corporate learning and development, business, leadership, and behavioral science.

  • Build and administer research and survey instruments to measure and capture trends.

  • Use SPSS and other analysis tools to identify research results, patterns, trends, and findings.

  • Skillfully share findings in consumable, written reports and briefs, as well as speeches and presentations.

  • Work alongside the marketing, sales, and product development teams to support campaigns, client initiatives, and research needs for training.

  • Consult with and work alongside clients in order to measure the results and ROI of their training initiatives.

  • Support all other activities as directed.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in research and development, statistics, behavioral science, or equivalent

  • PhD in relevant social science discipline required

  • Love and passion for research and behavioral science

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Service-oriented work ethic and ability to deliver on requests from cross-functional teams across the organization

  • A knack for concurrently managing multiple projects

  • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for excellence

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Proficiency in SPSS, Inquisium (or equivalent), Microsoft Office, internet search, BOX

The Research Services team is a significant business unit of Qualtrics that provides a wide range of services for our customers' research projects, both academic and corporate. Position Description As our Research Services business grows, finding a strong leader for our US-based operations teams is increasingly critical. Our US operations teams support more than 80% of our global revenue, and we are making a serious investment to raise the bar on both the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations work. The US Operations Leader will have direct management responsibility for several critical teams and functions: * Project Management - leading and executing thousands of sample and full-service research projects * Data Collection - overseeing data collection during the sample field process * Research Management - consulting and advising clients on research best practices and methodology * Sales Support - providing critical operational and logistical support to our sales team As the overall leader of US Operations, your success will be determined by four key metrics: * Support for aggressive revenue targets (as an enabler of the quota-carrying sales team) * Attainment of profitability goals (as measured by contribution margin) * Assurance of high levels of quality and customer satisfaction (as measured, in part, by NPS) * Engagement of operational employees (as measured by engagement metrics and retention goals) We care deeply about our people at Qualtrics. Primary responsibilities include the following: * Provide coaching and mentorship to guide career development. * Accurately evaluate the performance of team members & provide direct and actionable feedback. * Manage team capacity, forecasting, organizational structure, and resource allocation. * Exceed aggressive hiring goals by developing new strategies, interviewing candidates, and utilizing LinkedIn to source and recruit candidates. * Design and/or implement innovative global and scalable operational processes that increase efficiency and improve both employee engagement and client experience. * Communicate team impact and results to key stakeholders and act as an advocate for the team within Qualtrics. * Oversee team execution of Research Services projects and initiate new strategies to ensure that projects are run smoothly, timely, and thoroughly. * Understand key job functions of Research Services Operations teams to assist on project escalations and effectively train and communicate with the team. * Train the team on key topics, including data quality, vendor relationships, process management, process improvement, research best practices, professional communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills. * Ensure customers are happy with their experience with our team and help drive increased NPS scores. * Work closely with cross-functional counterparts to identify and drive initiatives. Partner especially closely with other operations leaders in EMEA and APAC, sales leaders and sales teams to ensure strong collaborative relationships. * Execute strategic team-wide and department-wide initiatives with our Global Head of Operations.
