Job Description:

As a Senior Research Associate and a vital member of Atomic AI's machine learning data team, you will be at the forefront of groundbreaking research, focusing on characterizing RNA and its diverse interactions within biological systems. Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities aimed at designing, executing, and analyzing wet-lab experiments to facilitate machine learning data collection. This position will be onsite at Atomic AI's South SF location at the very epicenter of San Francisco's flourishing, evolving and challenging biopharmaceutical industry.

As a part of Atomic AI's machine learning data team you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the machine learning team on projects involving the characterization of RNA, including RNA structure and RNA-protein interactions.

  • Design, optimize, and conduct wet-lab experiments to facilitate machine learning data collection.

  • Perform routine mRNA isolation, qPCR, RNA-seq, and other sequencing-based experiments.

  • Utilize a range of tools, including sequencing, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, tapestation, Qubit, and nanodrop, for troubleshooting experiments.

  • Design and procure templates, primers, and necessary reagents for experiments.

  • Conduct thorough data analysis and maintain accurate, complete scientific records in electronic laboratory notebooks.

  • Foster a collaborative and team-oriented environment, offering assistance and guidance to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Bioengineering, or similar, with at least 4 years of industry or biotech experience.

  • Proven experience in assay development for high-throughput in-vitro screening assays.

  • Proficiency in RNA isolation, qPCR, and library preparation for Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina).

  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain rigorous experimental record-keeping (including spreadsheets).

  • Enjoy troubleshooting experimental challenges.

  • Capable of working independently while effectively managing multiple tasks or projects.

  • Flexible and adaptable in recognizing the needs and taking on the ever-changing tasks that enable a small, nimble team to succeed.

Nice to have:

  • Proven experience in assay development for high-throughput in-vitro screening assays.

  • Experience working with automation or developing automated assays.

  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis and automation tasks.

  • Experience working with cell lines, including maintenance, manipulation, and experimentation.

  • Experience with working with organic compounds.

Salary Range: $100,000/year to $115,000/year + equity + benefits
