Position Summary:

The responsibilities of this position are to work in the Antibody Validation Lab assisting with the validation of antibodies for Immunoassays and bioassays. As a member of the Antibody Validation Lab, you will use high-throughput antibody characterization methods to generate comprehensive datasets detailing the binding of antibodies to their antigen targets. Candidates should be knowledgeable with ELISA and cell biology, and familiar with methods of high-throughput antibody characterization, and analyzing large datasets. Candidates should have additional familiarity searching PubMed and other databases and analyzing scientific publications. Ideal candidates will apply these skillsets to help analyze the correlations between antibody properties and performance in ELISA, bioassays and Western Blot applications, and will coordinate with outside departments on test schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with team members to improve workflows for the testing of candidate antibody combinations.

  • Evaluate the antibody/antigen binding properties and antibody pairing of multiple panels of antibodies.

  • Assist with new product development, data addition, and custom projects.

  • Analyze in-process data and adjust experiments as needed, generate data reports for collaborations.

  • Carry out troubleshooting activities daily.

  • Miscellaneous administrative duties including printing documents and making copies; revising / reviewing SOP documents; raw materials check-in.

  • General lab duties including cleaning and maintenance of cleaning logs; biohazard disposal; temperature recording; formulation and filtering of in-house media/rinse solutions.

  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Position requires a B.S. degree in Biology or a related field or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 year of ELISA and cell biology lab experience.

  • Or, Master's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience

  • Attention to detail, organization, data analysis and problem-solving skills are required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Familiarity with high-throughput antibody characterization and with analyzing large data sets is preferred. Computer entry and/or typing skills are desirable. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge and skills pertaining to laboratory equipment.

  • Knowledge of cell culture procedures. Ability to learn and consistently execute laboratory tasks, using excellent aseptic technique.

  • Skills in problem solving; including the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate a course of action.

  • Ability to act independently on routine assignments or projects.

  • Ability to plan, organize and multi-task to complete assignments in an efficient manner.

  • Skill in establishing effective inter- and intra-department relationships and be able to determine the appropriate actions to be taken with incoming samples and assist submitting personnel in a professional manner.

  • Ability to communicate professionally, both oral and written.

  • Ability to pay attention to details and perform at a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Knowledge of safety and company rules and policies.

  • Ability to work hours that conform to standard business operations
