Sutro Biopharma, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our activity/impurity assay development team which supports Sutro's clinical candidate pipeline of antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, and additional novel protein/conjugate therapeutics with primary focus on early-stage programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate within our analytical group to perform plate-based ELISA, enzymatic, and cell-based activity assays to support upstream/downstream development and formulation development.

  • Work with minimal supervision while also working collaboratively within the Analytical group and across functional groups.

  • Contribute to product characterization studies as well as perform routine release assays.

  • Communicate their data both verbally at group meetings and through written documents and reports.

  • Contributes to method development and has a technical understanding of the analytical methods and assays.

  • Communicate their data both verbally at group meetings and through written documents and reports.

  • Has an understanding of the cell-free technology and brings that knowledge to the AD group.

  • Work diligently and patiently to run plate-based assays with attention to detail.

  • Has understanding and knowledge of impurity assays such as host cell proteins, Host cell DNA and other impurities from the purification process.

  • Can help support assay optimization and assay qualifications/assessments.

Qualifications:

  • PhD, 1+ years or BS, 4+ years industry experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific field, in the analysis and characterization of monoclonal antibodies/antibody drug conjugates by plate-based assays.

  • Previous experience with commercial impurity kits is preferred.

  • Proficiency in operation of Molecular Devices Softmax Pro is highly preferred.

  • Experience in chromatography assays (SEC, RP-HPLC) and PCR is desirable.

  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects between departments in a fast-paced environment is essential.

  • Excellent verbal communication, strong writing skills, and being detailed oriented are important attributes.

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role at Sutro Biopharma's California based locations will be $95,000 - $120,000 (not including bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include and are not limited to relevant previous experience, job responsibilities and duration of experience, the type and length of experience within the industry and education.
