Job Description

This position will be responsible for managing a county-wide initiative focused on conducting community-clinics and assisting with health prevention programming, particularly in the areas of diabetes prevention and maternal and child health. The Sr. Research Assistant will work with the Principal Investigator, Project Director, Statistician and Data Manager on this initiative.

The Sr. Research Assistant will ensure logistics and reporting information is collected and supplies/materials, initial and booster trainings, and technical assistance are provided to community and health partners.

The Sr. Research Assistant will also conduct participant recruitment, enrollment, and survey data collection with our initiative partners along with coordinating launch and implementation of programs with initiative partners, health leaders, and academic researchers from multiple institutions. Additionally, this position will assist with preparing community data and status reports for the initiative and for community, government, and scientific partners and audiences.

The person in this position will also assist the Principal Investigator and Project Director with developing and maintaining IRB application materials and will provide support for NIH and foundation grants (e.g., grant application preparation, update of clinical trial information, manuscript submission in NIHMS portal). S/he will also assist with maintaining project websites.

The Sr. Research Assistant will contribute to writing and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and abstracts for conference presentations, which will include some entry-level data analysis. There is an expectation that this position will serve as a lead and co-author on these scholarly products.

Because our research is community-based, the Sr. Research Assistant must be able to work some evenings and weekends, as our goal is to meet our community partners at their sites and at times when they are convening the community members they serve.

Candidates should be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, oral/written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently. The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher is required.

  • Data management and statistical analysis experience.

  • Proficient competency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook and willingness to learn other software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency using SPSS and/or SAS and experience using REDCap as a database managing system.

  • Experience in conducting health promotion research, especially with underserved and minority communities, and working with faith-based populations.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $55,000 - $70,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
