A Requirements Engineer lives at the leading edge of product development and identifies the performance and behavior that our customers expect - customers that include major names in automotive, aerospace, and other markets. Systems, Software, and Hardware developers count on us to clearly communicate what to build. Verification engineers rely on our input to make sure the right thing was built. A Requirements Engineer is challenged to become the go-to source of technical information in a project team. POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of a Requirements Engineer III is to determine and document the requirements that a design must satisfy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Collect requirements from external sources such as regulations and customer specifications.

  • Collect requirements from internal sources such as other engineering disciplines, validation labs, and manufacturing.

  • Refine the requirements collected into a level of detail relevant to developers and verifiers.

  • Review requirements developed by other engineers to ensure compliance with standards.

  • Mentor other engineers in the processes, best practices, and behaviors necessary for success.

  • Evaluate technical dependencies to guide project priorities.

  • Negotiate with customers to ensure incoming specifications are clear, feasible and necessary.

  • Participate in the recruiting and screening of candidates.

  • Set technical direction within complex projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Mentoring and coaching - providing timely guidance and feedback (both positive and constructive) to help others recognize strengths and development opportunities.

  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.

  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality, honesty, and integrity with respect to company matters.

WHAT TO BRING

  • 4-year degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical specifications, data sheets, and schematics.

  • 5 years' experience managing formal sets of peer reviewed requirements.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • Experience creating scripts.

  • Experience with any of the following:

  • requirements management tools like DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Capterra, Visure

  • project management tools like Jira, Rally, Azure Dev Ops

  • systems engineering principles (full lifecycle engineering; INCOSE guidelines)

  • embedded software development (test, architecture, C or other coding)

  • electrical hardware development (microprocessors, power management)

  • digital communication buses (CAN, LIN, ARINC 429, Ethernet, RS-485)

  • processes conforming to standards like ASPICE, DO-178C, DO-254

  • functional safety development satisfying ISO 26262 objectives

  • cybersecurity development satisfying ISO 21434 objectives
