Senior Reliability Engineer

  • Space Systems (Remote)

We are searching for a Senior Engineer to join our Product Safety and Reliability Engineering Group, within the Space Systems (SS) Department, Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) at COLLINS AEROSPACE facilities in Windsor Locks, CT. This position is for 1st shift. The Product Safety and Reliability Engineering Function advises Collins engineering executives regarding implementation of product safety strategies, policies, standards as well as to ensure Collins Product Safety Management System (PSMS) compliance and reliability of the Flight Safety Parts (SP). The ability to provide technical support on space system safety, product risk assessment, and mitigation strategies (both hardware and software) are key attributes to this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate must be familiar with probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) including fault tree development and quantification, reliability engineering methods (including time-dependent reliability predictions, allocations, and growth), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP), maintainability predictions (mean time to repair), human factors / human reliability analysis (HRA)

  • The successful candidate must be able to perform trade studies among proposed system designs to down select the optimum design from safety and reliability perspectives.

  • Perform design reviews for safety-critical components and systems.

  • Perform software reliability assessment including FMEA for electrical circuits and components.

  • Perform systems safety assessment for the space systems (SS).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder

  • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate, and coordinate across stakeholders in the Mission Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in statistics and uncertainty analysis

  • Proficiency in applying risk and reliability methods and tools (e.g., BlockSim, Weibull++, Lambda Predict, Monte Carlo or Latin Hypercube sampling, etc.)

  • Prior work experience in probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM).

  • Work experience in the space systems and programs.

  • Ability to conduct FMEA and hazard analysis for electrical components.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
