The Senior Relationship Manager is responsible for developing a calling plan to maintain and grow existing relationships and is responsible for developing new relationships that meet Washington Federal's client selectivity and risk appetite. The Senior Relationship Manager has had proven success in independently winning new relationships (credit and non-credit) and negotiating terms with minimal assistance. Senior Relationship Managers are expected to partner with the appropriate commercial banking colleagues (Loan Coordinators, Credit Analysts) to develop and maintain credit relationships with the guidance of Credit Administration and the DM or Director. Senior Relationship Managers work closely with Treasury Management Officers to grow and service the non-credit needs of commercial clients. This position develops and manages commercial loan accounts which meet established lending and client selectivity requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank with a minimum of risk.

A Senior Relationship Manager has a proven ability to attract and retain quality clients and develop complex relationships that require a high degree of skill and banking acumen (e.g., strong negotiating skills, and the ability to provide/offer complex treasury solutions), along with leadership traits and the ability to effectively mentor teammates/team members.

  • Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business prospects; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank's products and services; maintains active prospecting effort, including identification, qualification and calling; investigates and follows up on significant changes in status of existing customers; consistently balances prospecting efforts and quality customer maintenance responsibilities; meets with customers to discuss needs and outline appropriate Bank services; resolves customer concerns or problems as necessary.

  • Performs all required portfolio management responsibilities, including but limited to monitoring of the customer's financial reporting requirement and compliance with covenants.

  • Ensures that all proper due diligence is performed and collects and analyzes financial and related data in order to determine the credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.

  • Establishes, and negotiates as necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, collateral requirements, repayment method and schedule.

  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of non-credit products, seeks to uncover opportunities and appropriate solutions to help clients more efficiently manage cash flow.

  • Stays current on all compliance training and adheres to the Bank's commitment to abide by all Know Your Customer expectations and Bank Secrecy Act regulations.

  • Develops materials for, and makes loan presentations to, Credit Administration and Senior Loan Committee, as required.

  • Participates in community affairs to increase the Bank's visibility and enhance new business opportunities.

  • Serves as a contact for borrowing and non-borrowing clients for matters relating to other bank services,including Work Perks and personal and private banking.

  • Counsels with and assists in the training and development of Banking Officers, Relationship Managers, Loan Coordinators and Credit Analysts.

  • Completes special projects, as assigned by Director or DM.

  • Bachelor's Degree or approved equivalent; completion of courses in finance, accounting and real estate analysis or equivalent training in commercial banking.

  • Proven negotiating experience required to win, retain and restructure credit and non-credit services, accuracy, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and success working with clients with diverse banking needs.

  • 7 years of experience as a Relationship Manager or equivalent

  • Must have excellent understanding and working knowledge of commercial lending terminology, loan processing, loan documentation and lending procedures. Self-motivated and production-oriented with a proven ability to win and retain new relationships that meet the risk appetite of the Company

SUMMARY Sells and implements the Bank's treasury management services and depository products to commercial and small business clients in assigned markets. Manages complex client relationships and partners with other Commercial Relationship Managers to strengthen and expand relationships. Acts as a liaison between clients and bank's service departments to support sales implementation and service issues. Monitors market conditions and trends so that the bank remains competitive in product offerings and pricing. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: This list includes the current primary responsibilities of this position. It is not intended to be all-inclusive and is subject to change, as needed, for the purpose of operational efficiency. * Solicits business from existing and prospective clients via leads, referrals, and a proactive prospecting plan, including expanding relationships with current treasury and loan clients. * Analyzes client's deposit relationships, treasury functions, and cash flow to develop customized treasury services proposals. * Regularly meets with business owners, CFOs, and Controllers for consultation and presentation of proposals. * Prepares and presents cost/benefit analyses and pricing recommendations utilizing the bank's pricing model. * Provides regular training of treasury management services for the Commercial team. * Accepts applications for ACH Origination and other treasury products, prepares credit memorandums, and makes approval recommendations according to consistent underwriting standards for clients within their portfolio. * Communicates effectively with support departments to ensure thorough implementation of services and adequate support to clients. * Provides training and support to business clients regarding treasury products. * Maintains productive working relationships with all departments of the bank. * Regularly attends and participates in sales meetings with all business groups in the assigned market. * Utilizes SalesForce to accurately document sales activity and process for department workflow. * Accurately prepares reports detailing department sales activity and income volume. * Identifies referral opportunities for other bank services, such as commercial lending, merchant services, and investments. * Provides competitive information on products and services to the product development officer. QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Three to five years banking experience required. * Three to five years sales experience required. * Prior successful business development required. * Experience selling and/or supporting commercial and treasury management services preferred. * Demonstrated success working in a self-directed environment with little supervision. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's degree in finance-related field (Finance, Accounting, or Economics) preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, CHARACTERISTICS): * In-depth knowledge of commercial depository and treasury management products. * Basic knowledge of commercial lending products and their associated credit risks. * Ability to develop and implement a proactive prospecting plan, including the ability to prioritize prospects and manage all aspects of the sales process through implementation. * Ability to manage all aspects of the product sales process from prospecting through implementation, including providing follow-up support if needed. * Ability to professionally speak with, and make presentations to, corporate executives, bank management, and sales teams. * Solid team player, must possess the ability to partner with all bank associates to generate new business and support existing clients. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. * Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. * Must be an organized, self-motivated individual with the ability to make decisions, resolve problems, and work independently. * Strong PC and software application skills. * Thorough knowledge of all bank operating systems.
