The Opportunity:

In this role, responsibilities will include, but not limited to: own and lead the Credit Union's regulatory call reporting process. Participate in providing relevant and timely financial information for the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) and Department of Business Oversight (DBO), and senior management reporting. Produce the bank's financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP, NCUA/DBO regulations, and other relevant requirements. Support technical accounting research as necessary. Support compliance with internal control requirements by developing, maintaining, and testing documentation and processes around financial reporting controls.

The successful candidate will have the ability to perform complex tasks requiring advanced professional experience, knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices. They will possess the ability to utilize discretion and judgment on assignments that are varied, diverse and difficult in nature. Possess the ability to embrace, and meet, the changing needs of the department.


  • Own and manage the preparation and filing of the Credit Union's regulatory Call Report and other regulatory reports and ensure their consistency with the financial statements. Research and implement new regulatory reporting guidance, including new reporting requirements as the credit union grows in size.

  • Work with the Credit Union's independent and internal auditors and examiners in their quarterly and annual reviews and audits, coordinating accounting related inquiries and requests.

  • Own and manage the 'Prepared by Client' listings requested by external auditors.

  • Assist with research and help provide technical guidance/draft memos on accounting transactions, new accounting guidance and new regulatory guidance.

  • Work with our business partners to ensure accurate accounting for complex transactions such as hedging and derivatives and reverse repos

  • If needed, assist in re-engineering existing processes to improve efficiencies and enhance controls in financial reporting.

  • Act as the Accounting project liaison for all internal projects which impact the Accounting department. Provide guidance to our business partners to ensure projects incorporate correct accounting, including the impact to the general ledger. Assist with mapping of GL accounts as part of the project implementation.

  • Build strong working relationships with other business partners throughout the organization.

  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested.


  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required

  • Five - six years of accounting experience is required

  • Certified Public Accountant required

  • Knowledge of Call Reporting requirements for NCUA and DBO is a plus

  • Strong and demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Financial institution experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to balance speed and accuracy in a fast paced work environment

  • Ability to apply critical thinking

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Advanced computer skills: Excel, MS Windows and MS Office

  • Working knowledge of Prologue general ledger and Blackline a plus

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills

  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to present financial information to senior management in a succinct and understandable method

  • Discretion and judgment required in dealing with changing and new situations

  • Ability to be well organized, team-player and motivated

  • Flexible with working long hours when needed

Key Responsibilities: * Lead monthly and quarterly close processes in SAP, including intercompany transactions, review and preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations * Provide accounting and business support to operations, including research and recommendations on accounting issues, as well as implementation of accounting changes. Document key transactions through technical accounting memorandums. * Act as liaison between Corporate Accounting and various functions/business units/countries in completing the close process. * Review and prepare disclosure information to support External Reporting process. Provide support to internal and external audit activities including preparation of audit schedules. * Develop relationships and work closely with business partners to continuously improve the close process. Participate in process, control, and financial reporting improvement projects. * Other duties as assigned.
