This job will be responsible for leading Ochsner's work with strategic partner NextOp Veterans to implement a joint Department of Labor workforce grant program to develop strategies for hiring military and veteran healthcare professionals. As part of the Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) Initiative, this job will be focused on creating programming and outreach initiatives to recruit skilled, yet underemployed veterans with difficulties translating military experience into high-quality in-place healthcare careers through direct recruitment, career coaching, and focused skills translation for both non-healthcare and healthcare careers. This job will be responsible for developing training-to-career pipelines for identified populations in military and veteran talent (dislocated workers, incumbent workers, new entrants, and opportunity youth) to meet industry talent needs (i.e., Sterile Technician, Physician Assistants, LPN, etc.).

This job will focus on working with external and internal partners to research, review, and implement solutions to transition military healthcare professionals into civilian healthcare careers. This job will also research, identify, and create opportunities to develop and advance transitioning military medical professionals (dislocated workers) and veterans in our communities with military medical experience (incumbent workers) into healthcare leadership training programs to better leverage an existing talent base and increase diversity.

Education

  • Required
  • Bachelor's degree or 4-8 years of relevant military experience in lieu of education.

Work Experience

  • Required
  • Military Service (Veteran, Reservist, or Guard member), experience working with military rank structure, protocols and culture preferred.
  • Required
  • 3-5 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, staffing, or human resources and collaborating with Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners.
  • Preferred
  • Experience in relationship-building with military organizations, veterans' associations, and other targeted constituents, using social networking as related to veteran engagement preferred, and organizing and coordinating events.
  • Preferred
  • Experience with Workday (or similar technologies), sourcing hard-to-find candidates, experience in full life cycle recruitment, and experience working in the Healthcare industry.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Proficient in utilizing standard Windows-style applications, such as the following Microsoft Office suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.

  • Experience with developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers/ connections via candidate relationship management systems (e.g. Salesforce) and applicant tracking systems (e.g. Workday).

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management skills and both oral and written communication stills.

  • Possess initiative and creativity to suggest ideas that improve the team's ability to meet/exceed hiring objectives.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced and changing environment.

  • Creative enthusiasm including the ability to get past roadblocks using solutions-oriented problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and competing demands to meet deadlines.

  • Skills to proactively identify and influence top level talent through a variety of talent sourcing techniques (i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Boolean searches, job board posts, applicant tracking system sourcing, etc.).

  • Ability to travel by vehicle regionally (Gulf South Region).

Job Duties

  • Serve as liaison for Ochsner Health and the Military and Veteran community.

  • Collaborates with HR, workforce development teams, and partner organizations to develop strategies for military and veteran healthcare professional hiring.

  • Collaborate with Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to understand hiring needs and position profile requirements.

  • Maintain positive business relationships with area leaders as well as HR departments.

  • Work with partner organizations to build and strengthen relationships by participating in events with regional military installations, military transition programs/offices, Veterans Service Officers (VSOs), and other partners supporting military transition.

  • Provide inputs and guidance to Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to improve the recruitment process of our organization.

  • Execute full life cycle sourcing and recruiting activities for all positions in assigned area.

  • Tracks and reports all candidate interactions and outcomes in real-time using NextOp candidate relationship management (CRM) tools and grant reporting software (i.e., Salesforce).

  • Collaborate with Ochsner Learning Institute to develop training for leaders on how military roles differ from civilian roles and on military culture.

  • Plan and participate in programming and outreach events to attract and recruit military and veteran talent, provide career coaching, and focused military skills translation for both non-healthcare and healthcare careers.

  • Develop and implement military and veteran recruitment strategies to support business strategies.

  • Educate hiring managers and HR Business Partners about the strengths that veterans bring to the workplace.

  • Educate hiring managers and HR Business Partners on how military roles differ from similar civilian roles.

  • Collaborate with workforce development team and organizational partners to develop training to career pipelines for identified populations in military and veteran talent - dislocated workers, incumbent workers, new entrants, and opportunity youth - to meet business talent needs.

  • Gather information on the core skills, responsibilities, and requirements for specific roles across the organization.

  • Work with HR and workforce development teams and partner organizations to research, review, and implement solutions to transition military healthcare professionals into civilian healthcare careers.

  • Research, identify, and create opportunities to develop and advance transitioning military medical professionals (dislocated workers) and veterans in our communities with military medical experience (incumbent workers) into healthcare leadership training programs.

  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
