We are looking for a Senior R&D Specialist position in the Immunology & Inflammation department with a focus on evaluating novel immune modulation mechanisms in the context of autoimmunity. Specifically, we are seeking a highly motivated, open minded, passionate and rigorous candidate with a background in cellular and molecular immunology, with hands-on experience and willingness to learn new skills to establish & characterize various autoimmune disease models, multicolor (>8) flow cytometry and analysis, co-culture assay systems; experience with single cell isolation and preparation for RNASeq profiling/sequencing data is highly desired. Ability to independently design, plan, execute experiments, maintain lab notebook, and communicate data in a timely manner is required. You will be part of a dynamic team, exposed to cutting edge technologies in the context of a scientifically fertile environment that tackles outstanding scientific questions looking for innovative solutions, while ensuring individual growth and development.

Job Duties:

  • Develops and optimizes relevant disease mouse models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, and the subsequent analysis of associated disease-related pathologies by flow cytometry, RNASeq, histology and ELISA, MSD

  • Develops and executes cell based assays to screen candidate antibodies for various research programs

  • Performs ELISAs and or MSDs to measure cytokine levels and determine antigen binding for various research programs

  • Experience with multi-parameter Flow cytometry and data analysis is required. Candidate will present analyzed data to supervisor and team

  • Contribute to project advancement by developing and refining new methods and technologies

  • Analyze data and interpret results of experiments within the context of research project goals, and work closely with supervisor to prepare and deliver effective oral presentations and papers in the area of expertise during internal and external meetings

  • Troubleshoots methodological and technical issues, interprets experimental data and literature, and communicates results to supervisor, department, or project team

  • Executes experiments based on projects/protocols provided and works towards independently developing project

  • Collaborates and communicates efficiently with team members to coordinate complex in vivo experiments, and with other departments to facilitate cross-functional efforts

  • Basic computer literacy and experience collecting and analyzing biological data on the computer is a necessity

  • Contribute to lab and equipment maintenance and order supplies/reagents to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment


  • MS with in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with at least 6+ years of relevant lab research experience or BS degree with 8+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with proper handling and care of mice, general surgical techniques and the collection of tissue samples and blood is required

  • Experience with mouse models of autoimmune or inflammatory disease is desired; experience in mucosal and/or neuro-immunology is a plus

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques including isolation and culture of cell lines and primary cells (immune cells of human and mouse origin), experience with multi-cellular assays highly desired, multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA (MSD etc), functional assays (e.g. proliferation, cytokine production, etc.)

  • Maintain state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, and accurate and complete records in a timely manner

  • Able to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and implement and develop new skills

  • Basic computer literacy and experience collecting and analyzing biological data on the computer is a necessity

  • Candidates will need to be highly organized and motivated with attention to the details

In addition to genetic association, the role could encompass methods for analysis of DNA sequence data more broadly and also applications of bioinformatic analysis to human and model organism data. * Demonstrated ability to build, organize and lead teams of investigators executing cutting edge genomic analyses. * Expertise with genome scale analyses of human genetic data and their application to elucidate complex trait biology. Broad understanding of the challenges and opportunities at all stages of genetic association studies - ranging from design, quality control, association analysis, functional interpretation and follow-up experiments in cells and model organisms.
