This position has the responsibility and authority for the development and commercialization of new products and improvement of existing products. Serves as a technical lead on feasibility and development programs, provides technical leadership and coaching to junior engineers within the surgical technologies group.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Independently lead development projects as assigned by the Manager of R&D with the ultimate goal of launching new products or improving existing ones. Assumes the role of technical lead, driving all aspects of design as it relates to disposable electrosurgical devices.

  • Plan and lead the execution of technical studies that support development, such as pre-clinical in-vivo animal studies that inform the development process.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers in the R&D group.

  • Design and development of test methodology, fixturing, or instrumentation is often required.

  • Apply principles in product development excellence, such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).

  • A strong working knowledge of the various electrical mechanical and physical properties relating to electrosurgical technology is required, as well as the ability to understand and calculate moderately complex algebraic relationships.

  • Extensive use of both Microsoft Excel and Word is required.

  • Support Sales and Marketing departments by providing technical support to the field.

  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.

  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.

  • Travel requirement: 10-20%

MUST HAVE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 4+ years experience or an advanced degree and 2+ years experience in medical device

NICE TO HAVE

  • Disposible Medical Device experience preferred.

  • High volume production experience preferred.

  • Injection molded plastic and small mechanical design experience preferred.

  • 4+ years' experience in an electrical or mechanical engineering position with product development and improvement responsibilities preferred.
