We are currently seeking a Senior R&D Associate to join our Credits and Incentives team. In this role, the Senior R&D Associate will work directly with our internal consultant team to help clients identify and claim government incentives designed to promote innovation and economic growth within the United States. Specifically, the Senior R&D Associate will have the opportunity to collaborate with clients regarding accounting procedures, tax strategies, financial analyses, and operational processes. This will include serving as a valuable part of Omega's client engagement by helping to manage the flow of data to and from the client. Additionally, the Senior R&D Associate will interface daily with multiple clients and participate in phone calls, video conferences, and client site visits. Further, the Senior R&D Associate will participate in financial analyses and regularly prepare calculations, models, and data queries.

Please note: This position is hybrid in Irvine, CA, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work closely alongside a team with a variety of backgrounds to conduct technical analyses and create value for clients in a wide variety of industries

  • Interface with business owners to review business practices and discuss the measurable state of their financial reporting

  • Analyze large subsets of confidential financial and technical client data

  • Conduct interviews with client personnel to review financial data and discuss technical aspects of client processes, procedures, and daily functions

  • Leverage strong project management skills to ensure deadlines and client expectations are met

  • Conduct technical interviews with subject matter experts regarding client business operations and specific product functions or process performance

  • Gather and review technical and financial documentation

  • Draft robust technical reports and deliverables that detail and substantiate business incentive claims

  • Become proficient in multiple business credits and incentives including the Employee Retention Tax Credit, Cost Segregation, FICA, WOTC etc., to identify additional benefits for our clients

  • Interface daily with multiple clients via teleconference, email, and on-site client visits

  • Conduct technical research to assist the team in new regulations and code requirements

  • Support, train and mentor team members within the department

  • Complete other duties at the discretion of management

ABOUT YOU

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented disposition

  • Ability to evaluate numerous client data points and quickly ascertain tax credit eligibility

  • Desire to work with small to mid-sized businesses and passion to help clients succeed

  • Self-starter and able to work independently

  • Capacity to prioritize projects, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building strong client relationships

  • Diplomacy, tact, and poise under pressure when working through client issues

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant Research & Development work experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word and advanced level skillset in Microsoft Excel, highly preferred

  • Acute attention to detail, expert analytical, research, and writing skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and ability to read financial statements

  • Superior organizational skills and project management skills required with ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Background in Audit (Public Accounting) or Law highly preferred

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree is a requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related major is a plus

  • Legal degree/law school graduate is a plus
