Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Heart Cardiac Catheterization Lab and / or Electrophysiology Lab, the Senior Radiology Technician is responsible for performing procedures, properly operating radiology equipment, and processing films and results in a timely manner during procedures specific to department.

  • Performs exams as directed by physician to ensure appropriate views of anatomy are taken that will facilitate an accurate diagnosis.

  • Assists physician directly, utilizing sterile technique for all invasive procedures.

  • Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures including pulse assessment and sterile field preparation.

  • Participates in assessment and quality of equipment and daily operational supplies with the department Manager and makes recommendations accordingly.

  • Able to take emergency call after hours and on weekends when the need for emergent procedures occur

  • Competent in Radial, femoral, brachial, and arterial sheath pulls

  • Efficient with team circulating, scrub role, reporting/recording systems, and xray equipment.

  • Maintains adequate level of supplies and proficient with inventory management system.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel to ensure proper maintenance of equipment.

  • Remains abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.

  • Assists in other areas of Heart and Vascular, if needed, if there is no other work in designated department .

  • Conducts patient education and screening and scheduling.

  • Complies with all Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.

  • Ensures the safety of patients, visitors, co-workers and self by using appropriate radiation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.

  • Operates and maintains radiology equipment used for procedures.

  • Processes, stores and controls quality of film.

  • Assists with set up and execution of procedures and transportation of patients.

  • Takes appropriate steps to ensure safety of patients and staff from radiology equipment.

  • Inputs patient charges to update billing.

  • Orders supplies as needed.

  • Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain licensure, position specific ongoing competencies and professional growth.

  • Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Successful completion of approved School of Radiologic Technology program.

Certifications:

  • Current license as a radiologic technologist in the State of Ohio.

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

  • Obtained certification by ARRT in cardiovascular technology within two years of appointment to the position.

  • Maintains current CPR certification.

Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Work Experience:

  • One to two years experience as a diagnostic technologist or one year experience in special procedures preferred.

Processes, maintains, compiles and reports patient information in accordance with health requirements and standards. This is a Monday - Friday position to work some days at our Independence facility and some days in our Akron facility. Responsibilities: * Performs medical record handling functions, including, but not limited to, record reconciliation, chart retrieval, filing of paper charts and loose documents and tracking in internal and external computer systems. * Maintains and operates a variety of health record databases and HIM related applications, to collect, classify and analyze information. * Uses computer programs to tabulate and analyze data to improve patient care, better control cost, provide documentation for use in legal actions or use in research studies. * May process birth certificates and related documents and enter into IPHIS system per facility HIM process, if assigned. * Prepares electronic or paper copies of medical charts ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and release information to persons and agencies according to regulations. * May process Stat ROI requests and Third Party Requests. * May process mailed informational and educational material to patients prior to scheduled appointments. * Performs quality audits of RAC or third party requests as assigned. * May perform medical record deficiency analysis and related medical staff suspension process, if assigned. * Assists providers in Epic and/or other electronic system usage relative to medical record deficiency completion. * Prepares reports related to medical record deficiency analysis, scanning process and other operational processes, as assigned. * Performs scan preparation/scan/index and re-index of medical records, as assigned. * May perform various administrative duties, including, but not limited to, answering/forwarding telephone calls, faxing, typing, sorting mail and preparation of correspondence. * Participates in Weekend and Holiday coverage per specific HIM site schedule. * May investigate potential duplicate medical record numbers and perform related merge functions. * Other duties as assigned. Education: * High School Diploma or GED required. * Associate or Bachelor Degree in an Allied Health program is preferred. Certifications: * None required. Complexity of Work: * Requires attention to detail, ability to follow directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision. * Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Work Experience: * A minimum of two years of health information management experience, including experience dealing with the public in person and/or via the phone is required. * Associate or Bachelor Degree may offset one year of required experience. * Medical terminology with intermediate PC skills (data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet) preferred.
