The Senior Quantitative Analyst is responsible for providing expert-level analytical and technical support to the Capital Markets Team; identifying and promoting ingenious ways to manage the Bank's balance sheet. The analyst will need to conduct independent market research to identify opportunities as well as optimal ways to manage interest rate risk, promote investment and raise funds; engage in insightful portfolio analysis and develop comprehensive models and reports that can be used to aid significant investment and funding decisions; apply statistical models with major data analytical software including but not limited to SAS, R and Matlab and conduct back-testing, simulation, regression analyses etc. in analyzing mortgage portfolio performance; act as subject matter expert in the workings of Capital Markets and have substantial understanding in the Bank's overall operating environment in working on cross departmental projects. The analyst will proactively promote new trade ideas, new strategies, new models and new analytical frameworks to advance the team's ability to better manage the Bank's risk exposure and achieve greater income and Lead and mentor team members/quantitative analysts on inter-departmental projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide expert-level analytical and technical support to Capital Markets Team; identify and promote ingenious ways to manage the Bank's balance sheet
Develop comprehensive models and reports that can be used to aid significant investment and funding decisions; Conduct independent market research to identify opportunities as well as optimal ways to manage interest rate risk, promote investment and raise funds. Engage in insightful portfolio analysis.
Act as subject matter expert in the workings of Capital Markets and have substantial understanding in the Bank's overall operating environment.
Conduct back-testing, simulation, regression analyses etc. in analyzing mortgage portfolio performance.
Promote and drive forward technical and analytical initiatives for new strategies within the
Bank.
Lead and mentor team members/quantitative analysts on inter-departmental projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Finance/Economics with a quantitative or applied emphasis or MBAs with a focus in finance and a quantitative background with 2-5 years' work experience in quantitative research or mathematical modeling in financial services industry or academia.
2-5 years of experience in mathematical modeling of business problems specifically using econometric methods. Expert level analytical and mathematical skills specifically in Probability Theory, Statistics, economics and option theory
Expert level usage of MS Office Products, Excel with VBA, Power BI, SQL, and SSRS
Practical Work Experience Using PowerPoint, SQL server or other Databases, and Computer programming like C, C++, C#, SAS, R, MATLAB or Python etc.
Agility to adjust to a changing business environment that includes but not limited to new software, new data source, new data format, new policy environment etc.
Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Self-motivated, responsible, with excellent attention to detail
