Job Description Summary
The Quality Leader will have the responsibility of leading the Quality team to ensure manufactured products meet the industry standards, customer specifications and expectations. Manage cross functional coordination across the manufacturing unit to meet business operational and financial objectives. Continuous improvement of the quality processes and policies and mentoring of all employees to those processes. Strong focus on delivery of quality products on time to customers. Requires strong foundation in quality systems, supplier quality, root cause analysis, manufacturing, and inspection technologies.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, customer quality, etc.
Manages a small to medium team of lead professionals as well as others in various functions including Quality systems, Supplier quality, Incoming inspection, Production quality, Design quality and Customer care
Leads and/or Participates in Kaizens as part of Continuous improvement efforts to improve product quality.
Participates in Daily Plant Genba to support the operation and coach the first line leaders.
Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
Uses high level of judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
Partners with Engineering and R&D teams on NPI projects to incorporate Design to Quality by utilizing common tools like Design FMEA, Gate reviews, etc.
Leads investigations for Internal and external quality defects or failures and ensures robust corrective and preventative actions.
Review and approve First Article Inspection
Manages Supplier Quality function, executes supplier audits, development plans.
Manages Incoming Inspection functions, develops inspection plans.
Owns Operator Skill Matrix and provides periodic training to mitigate deficiencies.
Required Qualifications
Desired Characteristics
Advanced knowledge of and training in quality control functions such as FMEA, 8D, Statistical process control, ISO9000, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Lean, JIT, Kaizen, and others.
