Newisys is responsible for the design of high performance data center systems for the OEM marketplace. Due to our continued success and growth, Newisys has an opening for a Senior Quality Engineer. This is an opportunity to join the Newisys team for an exciting career on the cutting edge in data center product design.

In this key role, the Senior Quality Engineer will work closely with Newisys customers, the factories and with the product development team to develop and enhance processes to manage customer field failures and product repair and returns.

The candidate will provide ongoing management of the RMA process and improve the overall customer experience by designing a responsive RMA process. He/She will also incorporate feedback mechanisms into the RMA process that drive improvements in manufacturing quality and product design.

The candidate will also be responsible for the following:

  • Direct customer contact to provide engineering diagnostics of complex customer issues and problems.

  • Provide Customers with recommendations on action including; customer action, part replacement or repair.

  • Evaluate complex customer issues to make engineering recommendations to Quality and Factory engineering teams for repair and product improvement.

  • Understand customer system design and use models to make recommendations on system design enhancement or changes and issues avoidance or resolution.

  • Performs engineering diagnostics or review on field returns, and assist the manufacturing and development teams in continuous improvement of product and processes.

  • Work with the RMA process team to provides regular defect analysis and feedback to internal departments and develop reports to aid in tracking RMA return rates and causes.

  • Analyze and report to management product field failures and quality.

  • Work directly with Quality engineers to evaluate the MTBF and field failure rates as related to the product specifications. Implement or suggest product improvement designs to maintain or achieve Quality goals.

  • Database programming and administration skill may be required to evaluate and update the required database systems utilized to manage the RMA information.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Minimum 12 years experience in quality engineering or other engineering discipline which involves complex electronic systems

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with customer and with internal development teams in identifying and resolving product issues

  • A proven track record in working with customers, suppliers and manufacturing in solving product quality and reliability issues

  • Expertise in the use of defect tracking systems and version control systems.

  • Experience with data storage systems at the drive, enclosure, and system level strongly desired.

  • Strong knowledge of disk drive qualification strategies is highly desired.
