Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Bloomington, MN

Contract: 6 Month Initial Contract

Pay Rate: $45-$55 per Hour

Description:

As a Software Quality Engineer (SQE) you will be responsible for tasks ranging from requirements planning, to Software testing as well as reporting to ensure that design specifications requirements of the developed and client-provided software products are met and that the quality is within total quality management limits and standards. In this role you will also be responsible for reviewing requirements and designs and to create, edit, and clarify test plans & cases within software project teams.

The SQE is specifically responsible for planning, reviewing, testing and validation of a suite of applications across several product areas. The Associate SQE is also responsible for the development and maintenance of an automated test suite.

The SQA Engineer will:

Perform root cause analysis on discrepancies or defects by reviewing the development code, determine and/or categorize the root cause issues and make recommendations on or present options for how to handle the issue or discrepancy.
Interact with developers and end users to develop and execute test strategies for testing of highly complex, high volume web testing initiatives. Participate in requirements and design review meetings, actively representing SQE.
Design and write tests and test scripts utilizing complex SQL program data comparisons while designing complex business test cases for validation of reporting and end-user data access.
Create, edit and update test plans and test cases ensuring complete test coverage, full test documentation for all code to be tested, and appropriate use of test methodology. Create trace matrices and/or flow graphs to support test plan and test cases.
Build, deploy and maintain test automation software ensuring complete automated test coverage utilizing Gauge, Javascript, Selenium, Java and Team City software.
Validate test data and results by developing appropriate SQL queries and application utilities.
Test software releases against requirements or stories utilizing appropriate testing techniques.
Document, escalate and follow up on defects per standard processes utilizing ClearQuest, VersionOne as appropriate.
Install and Configure needed system test equipment to meet test environment needs to execute system tests.
Perform SQE tasks as part of an Agile development team by communicating frequently and clearly with team members on product issues, and testing to products with high quality.
Develop, write and execute test plans and scripts for identifying and tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems.
Project leadership experience in areas of forecasting effort, resource needs, scheduling effort and resources, reporting status and adjusting schedules and forecasts required
Experience with n-tier Java enterprise systems preferred
Experience in software development (as a programmer) is a plus
Experience with requirement and design meetings and reviews
Experience with Windows PC (98, Win2K, XP) required
Working experience with MS Office applications
Knowledgeable of software testing, SQA methodologies, SQA processes and software lifecycle
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Effective team working and team leading skills
Active attitude and execution ability to initiate and implement process and technology improvements required
Ability to perform as a project point person to internal/external clients
Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications
Knowledgeable of Windows PC required
Working knowledge of relational databases and ability to create and update database queries required
Client server environments or network administration skills preferred
Knowledge of scripting language or object-oriented programming language a plus
Required Education & Experience

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent education and experience
6 or more years of experience in software quality assurance testing
Proficient with SQL, HTML, XML and client server/ complex systems
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Automation experience (ie: Twist, Selenium, Gauge) and some Java development experience highly preferred
Clearquest Defect Tracking System experience
Experience with n-tier Java enterprise systems
Project experience in areas of forecasting effort, resource needs, scheduling effort and resources, reporting status and adjusting schedules and forecasts is preferred
Experience with requirement and design meetings and reviews
Security and vulnerability testing experience
Education Preferred:

Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent technology experience.

Position Mission: Maintain internal quality assurance processes for the roastery and warehouse that are developed by the Director of Operations for the Roastery, Director of Warehouse, and the Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Quality Assurance. Develop and maintain preventative controls for food safety and quality processes that pertain to the Roastery and the Warehouse operations. Maintain a level of professionalism that is required when dealing with food safety and product quality but remember to have fun at the same time! Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: * Manage preventative controls and the HARPC plan for the roastery and warehouse operations. * Main point of contact for state, federal and third-party audits – announced and unannounced. Schedule AIB annual external audits. Coordinate pre-audit self-inspection/readiness assessment. * Manage daily, weekly, monthly and annual QA documents, which include but are not limited to specifications, HARPC plans, internal audits and product process flow. * Manage and maintain specifications for internal and external products, ingredients, labeling and packaging for domestic and international uses. * Lead/assist in product non-conformance investigations with company stores, distribution centers, internal supply chain departments and suppliers. * Participate in monthly and quarterly product non-conformance inquiries to identify trends and establish corrective actions. * Work with raw material suppliers on identified corrective actions and follow up on appropriate documentation to verify supplier actions are being followed. * Maintain and work with established quality assurance department software programs. * Participate in training related to our products so as to enhance understanding of Caribou/Einstein Brothers Bagels' (and sister brand channels) products and culture. * Create a working relationship and climate within the Roastery/Warehouse and Supply Chain department to attain and maintain a high level of executive and employee morale. * Provide Food Safety support by attending and participating in appropriate business channel meetings and/or conference calls. * Schedule and lead monthly Food Safety Team meetings, sending out agenda and processes to be reviewed in advance to ensure effective use of meeting time. * Remain knowledgeable on current, upcoming and proposed regulatory requirements and develop processes collaboratively with Roastery and Warehouse leadership to ensure compliance. * Develops, implements and maintains all Food Safety and QA written programs in accordance to AIB, FDA/FSMA, Department of Agriculture, Organic and Kosher requirements * Act as key QA/Food Safety liaison with Roastery and Warehouse in event of a Recall/Withdrawal * Establish a sound microbiological environmental swab plan and program for the Roastery, maintain plan and laboratory records and findings; work with independent lab for test results. Follow up any high counts or pathogenic findings with third party cleaners and internal personnel * Monitor compliance with HARPC program; review and sign off daily production documents as a PCQI within 7 days of creation. Follow up on any issues as needed * Assure raw material and finished goods specifications on file, assure Food Contact supplier letters of continuing guarantee on file, suppliers meet certification requirements for packaging materials * Act as liaison to City of Brooklyn Park to obtain water potability records * Schedule and obtain appropriate records for maintaining compliance on OTA testing with outside laboratory * Investigates and provides written CAPA's for Coffee Complaints. Close appropriate SharePoint quality complaint records * Verify materials needing HOLD status are appropriately handled; follow up when product is ready for release or disposal to assure records are maintained appropriately * Monitor operational cleaning procedures for compliance to established SSOPs. Document infractions, corrective action and preventative action on SSOP checklist. Assure corrective and preventative action takes place in a timely manner * Responsible for oversight, and to ensure, all QA/Food Safety and regulatory programs are followed by team members, visitors and contractors * Provide training for Production Personnel on how to write infractions, daily log maintenance in compliance with regulatory and third-party audit criteria * Assure raw material and finished goods specifications on file, assure Food Contact supplier letters of continuing guarantee on file, suppliers meet certification requirements for packaging materials * Create annual verification and validation steps of HARPC plan; write annual consumer complaint review to share with upper management validating CP's and PC's effectiveness. * Work with production team members on any product deviations on WIP or in-line process to assure proper trace backs and food safety is maintained * Conduct a pre-operational inspection as needed to assure a sanitary production environment in accordance with FSMA Environmental program and SSOP requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Expert understanding of emerging and current regulations applicable to coffee/ dry products. * Knowledge and experience writing, implementing and maintaining Food Safety prerequisite programs at a food facility; cGMP's, HACCP/HARPC, Recall Program, Environmental Monitoring programs, etc. * Experience maintaining a working relationship with regulatory agencies; FDA, State Department of Agriculture, and similar * Excellent communication skills, ability to simplify complex quality/food safety issues. * Ability to leverage knowledge and expertise to represent Caribou Coffee. * Experience in or knowledge of all applicable food industry related quality systems. * Experience and knowledge of shelf-life studies utilizing in-house controls and third-party labs. * Strong attention to details and organizational and problem-solving skills. * Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. * Computer skills required; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
